IAN GILLAN made his mark in UK blues/metal act DEEP PURPLE. Gillan was chosen to replace ROD EVANS who sang on the hit HUSH. No doubt he was under a lot of pressure, considering the success of the band with their earlier singer. However, not only did Ian fill the shoes of the former singer, he took the band to a new level! Gillan sang on many great tracks. SMOKE ON THE WATER, from the MACHINE HEAD album was the song that made the band a household name.

A toast to Ian Gillan for his contribution to metal! You are indeed on of the all time great METALSTARZ!
