LARS ULRICH is from Denmark. However, it was in Los Angeles that he first became recognised among metal fans. When Metallica emerged on the music scene many metal fans thought that the band would not be successful because they didnt have a strong enough singer. At that time people were used to hearng singers like Ronnie James Dio, Rob Halford, or Robert Plant. While many people did not like the singing of James Hetfield, everybody liked the rhythm section which consisted of Lars Ulrich and CLIFF. Lars was influenced heavily by COZY POWELL and IAN PAICE, but, he made his own style---taking metal drumming to an even more physically demanding endeavor!
