On Saturday 4th, my friend Mathias and I set out to secure tickets/day
passes for the concert in the evening. We later met up with our friend
Reidar and decided to check out the Pride Parade later that day. We also
met up with Mattias Lindblom of Vacuum and watched the parade with him. The
parade consisted of 4,100 people, and the number of spectators were around
300,000. Mattias was looking forward to working again after  several weeks
of vacation. The well-known act Mattias and Wollbeck are writing for is
being pursued by several record companies right now. Mattias wanted to
accompany us to the concert in the evening, but sadly, he couldn't get a
ticket. They were sold-out, and AoL's guest list was already full...

When we at last got to Pride Park in the evening, it was rather late and we
had already missed Addis Black Widow. We did manage to catch Nanna Daqini
(former backup singer for E-Type) and some gay hip hip band. The crowd was
big (about 7,000 people), but the atmosphere was still very friendly and
happy. While the videoscreen showed videos, the crew started preparing for
the Army by clearing the stage and carrying in a great throne for La
Camilla, as well as bottled water and some rainbow flags.

The, at about 23:40, Army of Lovers were introduced and took the stage to
the tune of "Sexual Revolution" The crowd's roar was deafening, and people
started singing along and dancing. AoL wore the same clothes as in the
LTSSI video, while Alexander had on the hat he used on Bingo-Lotto.
(Forgive me is the songs are not in correct order, I was to busy to write
them down.) Then came "Let the Sun Shine In". La Camilla sat on her throne,
sometimes crawling around, sometimes flashing her panties, sometimes just
watching the others. Alexander darted around with maraccas and waited on La
Camilla, serving her water, whispering to her. Jean-Pierre was a real
rockstar, prancing about, dancing, posing for the audience. Oh, and he had
pierced his nipples with gold rings! Dominika was energetic and constantly
danced and jumped about, often together with Jean-Pierre.

For "Crucified", Jean-Pierre and Alexander paraded around with the rainbow
flags, just as they do in the video. Then came "Hands Up", where they did
the moved from the Bingo-Lotto performance. The audience followed suit.
Next was "Everybody's Got to Learn Sometime", wherein Alexander took on the
part of the lonely little boy by stripping down to a sleeveless t-shirt and
black shorts. He crawled before La Camilla's throne and was then chased by
Jean-Pierre, who had on a black coat, sunglasses and a whip, chanting
"Deteste l'enfant terrible".

The encore was "Give My Life", where the line "looking grand on the video
screen" prompted Jean-Pierre to point to the giant video screen which
displayed his face. After that, I thought the applause would never die.
Even after the concierge Sofia Eriksson came back on stage, the crowd still
yelled for more. Finally, the Army came back onto the stage. Alexander
yanked the microphone from the hands of Sofia and said, "We have no more
extras, but we'll do 'Hands Up' one more time. And this time, you all know
the moves!" Seeing everyone's hands up in the air must have been as big a
concert experience for us as for the Army. It was great to see them before
a crowd that really loved them. My friend Mathias was much impressed with
the show and the atmosphere. After the music had died out, Alexander and
Dominika started kissing wildly, to the point where they fell into La
Camilla's throne!

After the show, Army of Lovers signed CDs in the tent of the gay magazine
QX. Outside the tent I spotted Camilla Thulin, AoL's stylist

 D: Camilla, she needed money after working idealistic for Swedish Social
Democratic Party. But it was perfect timing for me as well. I had just had my
baby and  thought about it for one second.
J: I was not sure and the only one being sceptic, but as soon as we got togheter
and kicked around ideas it felt really good. It is still not serious but genuine
fun.
WHY DID YOU CHOOSE LET THE SUNSHINE IN ?
D: That song had a lot of Army of Lovers in it from the beginning.
J: We chose from a list of different songs, but with this, we felt we could add
something extra to it. And it turned out to be great gay disco !
WHO IS THE BEST SINGER IN ARMY ?
D: Jean-Pierre !
J: Yeah, and it says a lot... !
WHERE WOULD MOST LIKE TO BREAK ?
D: Russia, Greece, Israel, Turkey..... All clichés about Russia are true. We
performed there once in front of 300.000 people, I will never forget that.
J: I dont remember that.... (laughs)
D: To be a star in Greece is fantastic; Its OK to get up on the bar miming to
your own records. Jean-Pierre and I did that once and got chanpagne and red
roses all over us. Wonderful !

*Bard appeared the other day on TV.
It was a discussion about w legalize drugs or not.
Bard once again said what he thought. He wanted to make
all drugs legal and what he believes is that drugs will be uncool,
and therefore fewer people wuill take them.
However he was quite hated by the audience

*Let the sunshine in will release in 5th of March.So here my review of the song.Well song starts with techno origion flavour .Then Army Tabernacle choir enter the song.Very dancey song as it seems and it is very Army Of Lovers.Dominikahave the lead vocals in the song.And the other members recites some words.Lyrics is originally taken from the original let the sun shine in hair musical.But Army made this song a musical fantasy.Near the end Jean Pierre recites about his belief.The back vocals bit sound like Big Money when back says "And I believe...".Also generally back recites more techo oriented.Back beats disco style and a bit like King Midas....
*So about the new Army Of Lovers video Let the sunshine in.Video starts video with resurrection of Alexander Bard from a futurisist bed.Video is shot in East Asia. Also it is the most tecnologic video of Army Of Lovers.Alex takes a gun and put a flower in it and shoot it.While he were doing it Jean Pierre is practicing karate with Asian guys.When he receive the flower he holds it with his mounth and then become glamorous Jean Pierre Barda.Also Dominika and La Camilla also receive the flower so Army of Lovers back!.Then the video goes on like that.Dominika looks so preety in the video.La Camilla shows that she is still the queen in the Army.One of the best scene is Dominika,La Camilla and Jean Pierre cooking marshmallows over Alexander's head.And Jean Pierre when recites become a devil and fires with his mouth.You can view the video MusicBrigade.One of the best video of Aol ever seen.Just go there and watch it.....

*Niklas Nilsson reports  "Army Of Lovers were interviewed on Swedish national channel SVT1, on the show Voxpop.Alexander said that during the past five years the Army of Lovers cult have been growing on different fan-sites from all over the world and that many fans are trading videos, records and pictures on the Internet. He also sees himself as the Ringo Starr (dummer of the Beatles) of the band; the member of the band that ordinary people can identify themselves with, and the one who makes the other three freaks look more glamoruos. A german record company recently asked them to record some new material and to produce a documentay  for the Video Collection. They did and were happy with the result.Jean-Pierre: It is great to be back making pop videos, which I love. Just great to love the cameras and to be loved by the cameras, I think the glamour never really went away from the members."....

*Army Of Lovers are ready to hit the charts.Well the name of the album will be called "Le Grand docu-soap".Including 4 new tracks and remixes of the classical Army Of Lovers songs.The first single will be Let the sun shine in as I indicate before.As u can see they still looks so glamorous.It seems so for me heaven is really near :-)....

*Swedish magazineexperessen made an interview withArmy Of Lovers.Here is quick translation by Niklas Grip"The text sais that AoL is back and that they invented the docu-soap, at least according to the members of the band.  They release this album to celebrate that it is exsctly 10 year since their breakthrough.  AoL 2001
consists of Jean-Pierre Barda, Dominika Peczynski, Camilla Henemark and Alexander Bard.  They have also made some new songs even if Alex sais in the video that "last time we neither played or sang ourselves, so this time we neither play or sing or write songs ourselves (I hope that he only reffered to the 1st single).Dominika filled in that she had put on her makeup herself.  Bard also  said  that he agreed on a comeback since he that what AoL did is important and should be documented.  He also sais that the band has the motto "more is less" and that "let the sun shine in" (cover of song from hair) begins with a 60-man choir and then comes more...  They also sait that Michaela isn't there because she did not want to.".......
