Martin Page

 My thoughts...
Martin Page is my favorite songwriter.  I decided this in the early 80's when I fell in love with a song he helped write called  "We Built This City" from Starship's Knee Deep in the Hoopla.  That same year, the song "These Dreams" that he helped write for Heart was released.  Both songs went to number one in 1985.   I wasn't like all the other seven year olds that year; I couldn't just listen to and enjoy a song, I had to know, who wrote it, performed it, produced it, engineered it, etc. So of course I noticed this name, Martin Page on both songs.  As the 80's progressed, I became aware that a great majority of the new music I liked, seemed to come from this one man.

In  1995, I was watching M-TV one day and happened to catch one of their news updates featuring Martin Page.  Of course I was interested, because I am fascinated by the art of song writing.  Plus, I was curious.  I'd seen this name for years, but never a face.  The news clip was about Martin's album In the House of Stone and Light , and after seeing and hearing a short clip, I knew that I could expect nothing less than perfect from this artist.  So, I bought it.  This album immediately became one of my favorites, it is amazing!  It is evident that many hours of thought and work were put into the recording.

With the success of  In the House of Stone and Light,   I found out about songs that Martin had written that I never knew existed.  Including the songs on Q-Feel, the only album by the band of the same name that Martin played a key role in.  I realized that this man was a better musician that I had ever imagined.  Now I am awaiting the release of his next album, that I hear  ( and hope!) is almost finished.
