SKA- EAST COAST OR WEST COAST:

Yeah, there is some total opposites in w/c and e/c ska, Noah Wildman, of the famos NYC ska @Moon Ska Records inspired me to do this article, he is a really good, talented writer, who also does the People's Ska Annual , a local paper in NYC. East Coast is more 2-toned, chex all the way, and west coast is more, flop-a-lop, yellow and orange surfin island style. But one thing is for sure, us rudie's and punx ahve to amke sure we don't split between our brotha's and sista's of SKA an reggea, and keep UNITY here and thriving. We dont want it to be a Rap thing, not puttin' down rap, UNITY is it and we need to respect it , if we don't honor it, difference is not East Coast and West Coast, it is two sides, that need to fight, WE WILL NOT FIGHT! WE WILL SKANK TO THE BREAK OF DAWN!!

TO SELL OUT OR NOT TO SELL OUT?

Yes, that is the question! Grunge has worn out, and alternative has stayed it's welcome, @ least that is wha the exploiters think. The exploiters? Well, ska & punk bands don't go there kicking and screaming you know. Well and I can't quote, but i had a simply FABULOUS* article by Noah Wildman, and he used a good term, on good terms, which was: what you can't have anyone in your tree house of ska? Is it yours? Was this once the dream of our fore-rudies? To have 30 people in the U.S. skankin' in their bedroom? No! We wan to have the concerts! We want to win tix on the radio to go to a concert we want! Yes! We know, we know, it duz ride our nerves when you see on a a bag, "Spice Girls, Hanson! Mighty Mighty Bosstones!" but are the people with the lable like a cow in a stable* to blame? Or was it the Bosstones when they left plaid with their dignity on the doorstep and cut a radio deal? Maybe know one here is comfty with the ska on radio and on mTV thing (of course there is no REAL EXCUSE for being on MTV!) becuz we don't have anyone to blame! TO BLAME! "Ah. those damned Bosstones are sellouts!" Well aren't they for tossing plaid and rad sounds with awsome lyrics? "Too many Trendies like Less Than Jake, of course they did sign a deal to the Scream 2 soundtrack..." Well aren't they "just keepin their pockets full"*? JTL didn't chenge thier sound, and Sublime didnt' either, sure every person can come up to you and sing, "Santeria" and ask you if you think they're cool now...but they were hardcore then, just cuz no wthey don't have to scrape and scrownge for dinner and a new amp they are lame? They also referingg to not only Sublime, but Ska bands that come and go,, and they only GO if they have indeed-e-dooo sold out.
