GERI'S £2M NUNNERY

ALL those good deeds must have gone to her head - Spice Girl turned Nice Girl Geri Halliwell has bought herself a nunnery.

She's spent £2 million on the property which is just a few miles from ex-bandmate Mel B's fabulous mansion.

The house was once the home of a group of Catholic nuns who have since moved up the road.

I'm told Geri, 26, paid £1.5 million for the sprawling mansion close to London's Heathrow airport two months ago.

She plans to spend another £500,000 doing the place up.

"Geri had been house-hunting for months and was staying in a rented cottage," a family friend confided.

"But she knew this place was for her the moment she clapped eyes on it.

"She was particularly struck by its history.

"Geri has very deep religious beliefs - hard to believe when you think of Ginger Spice in that Union Jack dress - and used to be a Jehovah's Witness.

"She's no longer a Witness, but is really looking forward to the peace she hopes she'll now find at home." The star and her architects, Leif Designs, are certainly working over- time to insure Geri has a happy home life.

The interior of the mansion has been gutted and will be completely refurbished.

Geri, who has devoted her time to good causes including breast cancer awareness since she quit the group, rarely visits the sight.

When she does, workers are evacuated to keep her identity a secret. Workmen are currently installing a massive indoor swimming pool and an all-weather outdoor tennis court.

Other plans include the demolition of existing out-buildings and the erection of a huge wall with security gates to shield Geri from prying eyes.

A sensible move. When I accidentally revealed that Mel B was staging her wedding at home in Little Marlow, Bucks, hundreds of fans turned up on her doorstep.
