Touching True Stories

Face it, the Spice Girls are extremely sweet girls, especially towards kids. They may seem like wild and crazy girls, but they truly have hearts made out of gold. If I'm not mistaken, I'd say that they're angels on earth, look at how many lives they've touched and changed. You know, that must make your day, having a child stay strong just because of YOU. Wouldn't it make you feel wierd if somebody said "That child has enough strength to live another day because of YOU, just because they look up to YOU," well the Spices are lucky enough to have those words said to them. It might sound cheesy, but if you think about it, its true. So here are some true stories that involve the Spice Girls:
*** From Emily- "I forgot to mention this earlier, but a week ago they had this tragic story on the news about this little girl who was the only survivor in her family when their house burned down the night before. Well, they showed a clip of her in the hospital and she was singing Wannabe to the camera!! My heart just sank...how cute..."
*** From Paula Luiza- "Man, I had a friend who had CANCER, she was already dying because her cancer could not be cured...but, she wrote to the Spice Girls and told them what happened, well the Spice Girls read her letter and came to her hospital room and stayed for 40 minutes...It's just the beginning, when she went to a Spice Girls show (I don't know where was it) they asked for her to get up on stage with them...After all, they sent flowers, and other presents for her...those must of been the most happiest days of her life...and she died happy...Well man, after that...I have wondered...everybody who wants to stay with the Spice Girls for 40 mins needs to die to do it...She died at the beginning of this year with 14 years old...but she died happy...I'm sure..."
*** And there was another story, about a year ago, lets see if I can remember it - This little girl, about 8 years old, was dying in the hospital (I forgot what she was dying from), and she told her parents all she ever wanted was to meet MelB. So her parents wrote the Spice Girls a few letters begging MelB to come and see their daughter before it was too late. Well, of course the Spice Girls themselves can't read every letter their fans send them, so their assistants were the ones handling the letters. I don't know why, but the assistants didn't notify MelB about the little girl right away, they waited hella long until they told her. But when they finally got around to telling Mel, it was too late. And Mel got pissed at the assistants for not telling her sooner. It was so sad, because I saw these pictures of the little girl with Spice Girls stuff all around her bed, and I read the exact letter the parents wrote to the Spices, and it was very sad. I'll try to find that letter and the article for you guys to check it out.
*** Press Association- Pop queens Spice Girls today sent a special goodwill message to one of their young fans, who is ill in hospital suffering from anorexia nervosa. After the Fab Five's successful sell-out show at the SECC in Glasgow, a spokeswoman for the band told PA News that the Spice Girls were thinking of 10-year-old Rochelle Elliott. Rochelle, from Cheshunt, Herts, has lost a third of her body weight to the disease.
"The Spice Girls wish Rochelle a speedy recovery and hope that she can come and see one of their shows and meet them just as soon as she is better," said the spokeswoman. The girls had spoken to Rochelle from Madrid during their recent tour, she added.
Rochelle's illness is believed to have started when a playground bully taunted her over her weight last summer. At seven stone, she was a perfectly healthy size for her 4'11" frame, but the unkind words made her desperate to diet and her weight plunged to just five stone. Her worried parents saw her transformed from a happy fun-loving girl into a depressed recluse, who locked herself away in her room as soon as she came home from school. As the bullying got worse, Rochelle became terrified to go to school, and on the day before term started in January she developed a rash and could not move her head. Doctors said she was suffering from stress and she was started half-day attendance at school to ease her tension, but the bullying continued and Rochelle intensified her dieting to the point where she would not even brush her teeth or drink water. As doctors tried to coax her to eat solid food, Rochelle's uncle contacted 'Posh Spice' Victoria Adams' mother to ask if she could supply an autograph to cheer the youngster up.
Rochelle was delighted to receive an autograph and posters from Mrs Adams, then amazed to receive a phone call shortly afterwards from the Girls themselves.
Victoria told her how she was bullied herself at school and Ginger Spice Geri Halliwell described her own battles with eating disorders, while the other Girls invited her to their Wembley concert and encouraged her to start eating again.
The band's spokeswoman told PA News: "Victoria rushed in after talking to her and told the others: 'She's eaten a piece of toast, isn't it great'. The others then asked all about it."
Within days, the Girls had followed up their call with letters, and Victoria rang again and promised to visit Rochelle when she was home from hospital.
Doctors now say Rochelle is making some progress and her parents say she is looking forward to going to Wembley, but the youngster is still poorly and mum Paula said she was taking "one day at a time".

*** Thanks to Yulie for mentioning this lovely story to me!: 11 year old, Mellissa Gordan of England, had to have an emergancy kidney transplant when finally, a suitable donor was found. It saved her life. But when she found out she was gonna miss the Spice Girls concert on Sunday, she became very dissapointed. After all, the hospital spent 5 hours trying to track her down to tell her they found a suitable donor, when she was busy shopping for a new outfit for the show, but unfortunately she won't need that outfit anymore, unless, of course, the Spice Girls themselves find out about her situation and give her 2 free tickets to their gig in Sheffield on September 11th, but nah, that'd only happen in a dream, right? Wrong! "We are very sorry she missed the concert, but we hope she will get well soon and enjoy the show in Sheffield," said MelB (Mellissa's fave Spice Girl). The Girls gave little Mellissa 2 free tickets for her to attend the show in Sheffield! Emma also said, "All our fans are very important to us, but Mellissa sounds like she is a very special girl." And Mellissa-full-of-Girl-Power-Gordon said, "I am soo excited about the tickets. I was dissapointed I had to miss the concert. I will be able to wear my new outfit for the concert in Sheffield now."
*** Thanks to Scarier Spice for this one: Scope is a charity in GB for disabled people. It has a picture of a disabled girl infront of her Spice posters and has the following text:
"The Sixth Spice Girl? Dream On.
Sally Ann has cerebral palsy. When she grows up, she wants to be a Spice Girls. Is she crazy? Kidding herself? Or is she just like any other nine year old? Sally Ann's disability doesn't hamper her thoughts or dreams, but in reality it does affect her ability to control her movement. And it changes the way others view her. Scope work to prvide children like her with the extra support needed to give them an equal chance in life. We want disabled children to be given the same scope of opportunity as everyone else."
