BECKHAM TRYST: "I LOVE MY VICTORIA, WE MUST STOP" HE TOLD MODEL

By GUY PATRICK and DAVE GODDARD

Devoted . . . Beckham finally put fiance Victoria first GORGEOUS Page 3 girl Emma Ryan told last night how soccer star David Beckham squeezed her bottom and passionately kissed her as they canoodled on a sofa.

Brunette Emma, 22, said Beckham got so excited he covered his tackle with a cushion to hide his embarrassment. But he was ridden with guilt at the prospect of betraying his fiance, Posh Spice Victoria Adams. And the romp ended after he told Emma: "I love Victoria and I just don't want to hurt anybody."

But the sexy model still remembers the moment as magic. She said: "It got very intense as he hugged me. It was brilliant."

Emma said the couch cuddle happened as Beckham wooed her for a month while Victoria was away on the Spice Girls' world tour. And she told of the Manchester United and England ace's amazing attempts to keep their hush-hush meetings under wraps.

Emma was having a meal with her twin sister Eve - also a glamour model - when she first saw Beckham, 23, on August 6. He strolled into Manchester's Mash and Air restaurant with his pal Tim Bower. And Emma said that after the pair sat at a table Beckham spotted her, caught her attention and starting "flirting with his eyes."

A waiter told her Beckham was talking about her and thought he knew her from somewhere. So for a giggle she scribbled her phone number on a card, wrote "Curious?" beneath it and asked the waiter to give it to Beckham.

As she was about to leave the restaurant with Eve, Tim intervened and asked them to join him and Beckham for a drink. The men bought the girls a white wine and soda each.

Emma said: "David kept flirting with his eyes and it made me so nervous I couldn't speak. He asked if we had met before but we hadn't. I would have remembered."

The model said he spoke of his World Cup nightmare, in which England were eliminated after he got sent off for kicking an Argentinian rival. She added: "He seemed really lovely but then the manager came over and told him photographers were outside." Beckham apologised, said he had to go, but promised to phone.

Later that night Tim called the models' family home in Stockport, Greater Manchester. Eve, who took the call, said: "Tim said he wanted to speak to the girl David was interested in - the one in the white T-shirt with the big nipples."

The player came on the line - and finally got chatting to Emma. They discovered they both liked dogs and Beckham told Emma about rottweiler puppies he had bought Victoria.

The next day clothes shop worker Tim called Emma again. She said: "He asked if Eve and I were single and if I liked David. I said I did.

"He said David liked me but was scared to death and that trust needed to be built up and a lot of secrecy involved."

Tim was so eager to protect Beckham that he told Emma any phone contact had to be made through his mobile or work number.

He arranged for the models to have dinner with him and the player but would not tell them where they were eating until minutes before the date.

"David wanted to pay but didn't dare give the money to the waiter himself. Instead he passed me a 20 note and I had to hand it over."

The group went to another bar called the Metz, Tim and Beckham leaving first and the girls following on. But the two pairs failed to get together again as Beckham was being pestered for his autograph "and was getting really paranoid."

Beckham later called Emma from a phone box. Emma said: "He asked about my work. I told him I was in a newspaper that day after doing a topless shoot with my sister and he seemed really impressed.

"He said he was going to drive to an all-night garage to buy a copy. I ended the conversation by saying, 'Sweet dreams'. He said, 'You too' then put the phone down." Emma finally got to meet Beckham properly the following day after Tim arranged a rendezvous at the Manchester city centre shop where he works, Flannels.

Beckham was waiting for her on a leather sofa and bombarded her with compliments about her hair and figure. He said: "You have got a great a*** and I got the paper - you both looked stunning."

Beckham asked if she and Eve would like to see him play football. And three days later they met in the shop again and he handed Emma tickets for Manchester United's European Champions League qualifier against Polish team Lodz.

Emma said: "He was wearing a white vest and looked gorgeous.

"We talked about normal things and I said I liked baking chocolate cakes. I promised to bake one for him if he scored at the match."

Beckham made sure Emma had a good view. She sat six rows behind his mum, dad and sister. And just feet away were the girlfriend of Beckham's team-mate Teddy Sheringham and Ryan Giggs's brother Rhodri.

The pair next met back at Flannels. Emma said: "It was as if nobody else was in the shop - just me and David. I stroked his thigh, he squeezed my waist and I fiddled with the engagement ring Victoria gave him."

Emma saw Beckham play for United against Leicester. And she said: "We arranged to meet each other at Kells nightclub after the game. David was lovely to me. He kissed me on the cheek when he walked in and introduced me to his team-mate Gary Neville. He held my hand and I felt so special. But people were giving us dirty looks - it was horrible. So David asked if I wanted to get a hotel room with him. I couldn't believe it. We arranged to meet in the residents' bar at the Four Seasons Hotel next to the club. David came in but it was so busy I decided it wasn't a good idea for us to stay over in case anyone saw us. He gave me a kiss and then left. But he rang later from Gary's house and said he wished we'd got the room."

Four days later Emma got the private date with Beckham she had been yearning for. Tim arranged a bizarre meeting at the car park at Birchwood Services on the M62.

Emma drove there with Eve to find Tim waiting in his car. Beckham arrived soon afterwards in his Range Rover and talked to Tim on his mobile even through the two were just yards apart.

Finally Tim told the girls to follow him to his home nearby. Beckham also followed for a few miles but then headed off. He arrived at the house after the others with a McDonald's meal for everyone. Emma said: "I was too nervous to eat but David seemed fine and told me all about himself - how he wanted a Ducati motorbike but the club would not insure him for it. As we were sitting around, David's dad rang on his mobile and David told him, 'Oh, I'm at Tim's'. When he got off the phone he burst out laughing and said, 'I can't exactly tell my dad I'm out with two Page 3 girls, can I?' We stayed in the living room. David poured us champagne and we listened to Take That and George Michael while the boys drank Bud Ice. David held my hand and we were whispering in each other's ears. I asked him if he had ever done this before and he said he hadn't. He said he loved Victoria and didn't want to hurt anyone. I told him I wouldn't be hurt as long as he told me what was happening. He said he'd been seeing Victoria for 18 months - and even though she'd been away for a year of that he had never met anyone else or wanted to do anything with anyone else. I was just so confused. We were kissing on the sofa and fondling each other. Then he grabbed hold of my hair hard at the back and pulled me to him. I ran my fingers through his hair and we kissed passionately. Then we stood up and started kissing again. He was squeezing my bum hard and we kissed more. He was only wearing thin trousers and we both looked down at the same time and he went, 'Oops'. Then he grabbed a cushion to cover his bits because he was pretty excited. We kissed some more and he really pushed hard on my lips and was hugging me. He was a gorgeous kisser - but we had to go after that because Tim said he was expecting visitors."

Emma later gave Beckham a signed glamour photo of herself. She said: "We wanted to keep it but Victoria finding it would obviously have been a problem."

But it was Emma who ran into problems two days later when she read in The Sun that Victoria was pregnant. She said: "I just burst into tears. I was so shocked. He shouldn't have got to know me if he had a pregnant fiance."

Beckham phoned Emma three days later. But after that the "romance" fizzled out.

Tim called Emma to say Beckham had flown to America to see Victoria. Then a week later sister Eve confronted Tim and asked him what was going on. The pal said Beckham was "really busy" and had been for dinner with George Michael in France.

Finally, on September 14, Emma heard from Beckham. He rang as he drove home from training and apologised for not keeping in touch. Emma said: "He said he was nearly home and had to go but would ring soon. That's the last I heard from him."
