Coop's World

Hello, this is Crazy Coop and I would like to tell you a little bit about myself. I grew up in Ohio in a little town called Mogadore. It is about twenty minutes from Akron for those of you who know where Akron is. I attended Field High School where I graduated sixth in my class. In high school, I played football (stack back, and outside linebacker), I wrestled, and I threw the shot put and discus for a year. Well, you may be saying to yourself, "How crazy is Coop?". Well I'll tell you how insane I am, I am so crazy that I turned down many scholarships to state colleges, to give up the next nine years of my life to the army. I chose to attend the United States Military Academy at West Point. Here is a link to West Point's Home Page, Go to USMA Home Page Now I know what you're thinking, "Why would he do it, that's crazy?". Exactly! Now here's a little bit more about myself.

The craziest thing that I've ever done.....

Keep in mind that I'm a crazy guy, and let me apologize in advance to Michelle Moyers in case she or any of her friends read this, here's the story. I am an avid weight lifter. My high school weight room was open after school on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Well one Friday, near the end of my freshman year, I went down to lift as usual. When I got there, the track coach informed me that the weight room was closed that day for one reason or another. That was when I, along with a fellow weightlifter, went to the coaches office to use the phone, as we were not of driving age and needed a ride home. In the office we discovered a lighter sitting on a desk, as well as a can of hair spray. My friend, whose name is Jeff, came up with the idea of creating a "blow torch" with the spray can and the lighter. I'm sure you can see where this is going. Well I picked up the lighter, and Jeff picked up the spray can. Then I proceeded to light the lighter while Jeff sprayed the hair spray on the flame which instantly turned into a huge ball of fire. Just then, unfortunately, a girl named Michelle, entered the room from her track practice. When she opened the door to the room, the flame jumped onto her shirt. She was in shock, so Jeff and I grabbed a blanket and smothered the flames on this terrified, innocent victim. Needless to say, I got suspended from school for a while. That was better, however, than what the principal wanted to do to me. He wanted to have me go to court on arson charges, but the parents of the girl didn't want to press the charges, as I was a friend of Michelle. People in my hometown still talk about this incident. Can you beat this story??
West Point life in a nutshell....
Now I will tell you a little about my West Point life. During this past summer, I participated in Cadet Basic Training (aka. Beast). It was very challenging physically and mentally. I was in Charlie Co. GO CLAYMORES. Our company took first in the regiment for the "Warrior Competition," which was a series of physical tasks such as: get your squad over a wall, run two obsticle courses, push a log in the = crab-walk position, push a sled with four people on it, and there were many more similar activities. I also had to complete road marches for basic training. I completed all six marches ranging from three miles to fifteen miles, all with the added weight of a full ruck sack, a M16-A-2 assult rifle, and load berring equipment. Another part of Beast was was the confidence obsticle course. I had to cross balance beams and logs elevated high above the ground, climb a scaffold type platform, along with many other tasks. I also had to qualify with hand granades and rifles. That was the fun part (if there was one)of Beast. That was Cadet Basic Training in a nutshell. Now I'm in the acedemic year. The classes are tough, and I've aquired an addiction to caffine pills to stay awake after nights of no sleep. My academic company is D-2, "The DRAGONS." I am getting by alright in this company. I will stay in this company for two years, then they will assign me a new one. That's my West Point experiance thus far.
