A Quick Note:

"Before you read on I would like to make it known that The Invaders are a lot less interesting than we would like to be.

In fact, we don’t even live up to any of the clichés that seem to make a ‘real’ punk band these days.

We don’t skate, we don’t come from a ghetto, we haven’t ever been homeless (well, I was once… but it only lasted two days because I didn’t like it very much), we’re not pierced or tattooed, we’ve never almost died from taking drugs, and we’re not American.

And if you’re one of those kids who think you’re punk just because you like The Offspring and you spent £15 on a chromium wallet-chain then PISS OFF!!! There’s nothing worse than a trendy in punk’s clothing."

Now for the information.

The Invaders are:

Dug - Vocals, guitar

Luke - Bass

Ben - Drums

The Invaders were formed in October 1998 by Dug, Tom and John.

In December 1998 Luke joined.

It was all pretty uneventful from then on, we wrote a few good songs, and a couple of really awful ones.

In May 1999 (as FUDgE MUNKY) we played a small "Battle of the Bands" at The Commonweal School, Swindon. We got a good crowd reaction (and a few casualties) but in the end we lost, by one vote, to some indie/metal band who everybody (except us) seems to really like.

We were to have done a gig in July, but the guy who was supposed to be arranging it is a lazy bastard and we hate him.

In September we changed our name to The Invaders, because FUDgE MUNKY just wasn't funny any more.

In December 1999, due to creative and inspirational differences, the band split in half.

While Dug and Luke wanted to do straight-forward aggressive hardcore (early Black Flag, Straight Faced), Tom and John were taking a less structured and more technical approach to their song writing (Fugazi, Soeza).

Dug and Luke decided to carry on as The Invaders, and recruited Ben on drums. Tom and John got a guy called Joff on bass and are calling themselves Look to the Detail.

The two bands are still friends, and maybe one day we'll do a gig together.

In March 2000 we set up Invasion Records, our very own non-profit punk rock record label… Oh yeah, and Dug now has a quiff.

And that's the story of The Invaders.

I told you we weren't very interesting.
