Ottawa buzz: Zoot allures
Word on the street is that Babylon is adding swing -- in the form of a live band -- to its mix.
Rumor has it that Starling frontman Ian LeFeuvre and Cameron Terrill will reprise their explorations into vintage, Django-esque musical stylings in the form of Slow Poke and Shaft. Now that the duo has become a sextet, however, the combo is musing over a name change.
Joining the duo, among others, will be accordion player Mickey Vallee, formerly of the fabled Jimmy George, fiddler James Stephens, of Fat Man Waving fame, Nuginduck bassist Mike Bann and fellow Starling member, drummer Peter Von Althen.
The house band gig has been scheduled for Tuesdays,
though that's not yet written in stone. Patrons shouldn't expect
the residency to begin until late September, however, as Terrill will be
touring with Sherwood Lumsden in Germany prior to that.
