Bio: Pantera was formed while the young Dimebag Darrell was still in his teens, so the band has been the only job he has ever known. Darrell originally played the drums, but quit after being pushed off the kit by his older brother, Pantera drummer Vinnie Paul. Darrell took to the guitar and honed his skills well enough to be judged as Texas' best young guitarist. As Pantera progressed, Darrell received an offer to join metal heavyweights Megadeth, to which he declined.

In 1995, Washburn began production of the "Dimebag Darrell Signature Series Monster Guitar" range. The design was similar to that of Dimebag's ML Dean, which he'd been using since before the advent of Pantera.
