Bio: Philip Anselmo worked on a shrimp boat in New Orleans in his teens, and began actively participating in music around this time. In 1986, Phil joined the Texas-based Pantera as a replacement for founding vocalist Terrence Lee. Anselmo's influence pointed the band towards a hard edge and worldwide attention. Philip was mildly active in the media until a certain UK publication accused him of being a racist and bigot, which led to a mistrust of the media by Anselmo (And Pantera in general) which remains to this day.

In July 1996, Philip overdosed on heroin after a show in Dallas, Texas. He was unconscious for five minutes before being revived in the back of an ambulance. It later was revealed by Anselmo that he had been hiding an addiction from his bandmates. He swore off hard drugs after the incident.

Every Halloween, Anselmo and his New Orleans friends open the "House Of Shock" to the public. It is the city's largest haunted house, and is a popular attraction.
