Calico Girlfriend

It was early May 1966, I just left my home in Virginia to find my fame and fortune in California. I had taken with me only two suitcases full of clothes, guitar, some food, money, and a map of the USA. The wind sweept through my brown hair that had been cut in the popular "bob" style. My big, brown eyes were hidden behind dark glasses. I swayed back and forth to the music playing on the radio. It was an all Beatle weekend and "Baby You Can Drive My Car" was playing.

"Baby you can drive my car. Yes, I'm goin' to be a star. Baby you can drive my car and maybe I'll love you. Beep, beep, and beep, beep. yeah!" I sang. I imagined myself up on stage with them performing to screaming audiences and having a ball just playing and singing tunes. I pictured myself writing songs with the great Lennon/McCartney team. It was only a dream though and I knew it wouldn't come true.*sigh* (to be continued...)
