This is a little story I wrote for English last year. It got me an A too!!
Dear Journal,
It all began one Sunday afternoon on May 8, 1998. I was in my room listening
to my favorite Beatle album Rubber Soul. My cats John Lennon and Clifford were
sleeping on the bed peacefully. As I sang along with the well known songs I began to
dance and spin around to the music. I closed my eyes and saw myself dancing with
Ringo Starr, my favorite Beatle. We were dancing in perfect rhythm to In My Life.
I opened my eyes as the end of the song drew near expecting to find myself
dancing with an invisible partner, but instead I found myself in a recording studio with
white washed walls. I was holding Ringo’s hand and the other three Beatles were
standing around us playing their instruments. John, on rhythm guitar was singing,
George was concentrating on lead guitar, and Paul was over in the corner playing his
violin-shaped bass. They all were wearing colored glasses that were in different
colors and they wore long necklaces around their necks with many beads and peace
symbols. I obviously was not home anymore. I must have looked totally confused
because Ringo was asking me if I was alright.
I said,”Yeah, I’m fine I just... Where am I?”
“Have you been tripping again? I told you that you have to cut back on that
stuff.”
“I guess, I’m sorry. By the way how do you know who I am?”
“You’re our lead singer. Bloody *#!!, you have to stop doing this to yourself.
One of these days your not going to come back.”
“Do you know what this could do for my image,” said Paul,”It could be totally
ruined if they find out I hang out with a druggy.”
“Come on guys, let’s finish this record so I can go home Cyns probably
wonder’n where I am,” stated John.
We finished the record that night and Ringo volunteered to take me home,
seeing as I had no idea where my home was. He took me in his Rolls Royce, which
had been painted with psychedelic designs and avant-garde paintings, and
dropped me off at what he called my flat, just outside of London. He came in and
called his new wife Maureen to tell her that he wouldn’t be able to come home tonight
because he had to take care of his friend Phyllis, which I presume is me, and make
sure she would be alright. Still a little out of it I prepared for bed before I went to sleep.
Ringo slept on the floor still in his clothing from that day.
When I woke up I once again found myself back in the nineties and in my room
collapsed on the floor. Both my cats were looking at me wondering what had
happened probably. A little dizzy I got up and shook myself thinking that was some
weird dream I had just had.
Later that summer, I was listening to a Monkee cd and once again dancing with
my invisible partner. This time though it was Mike Nesmith of the Monkees. The song
was a classic rocker called Circle Sky. I closed my eyes and envisioned myself in the
Monkees’ pad listening to them sing.
When I opened my eyes I once again found myself in a place I did not belong.
Except this time I was on the couch in the Monkees’ pad and Mike was sitting next to
me. The song Circle Sky was playing on the record playing and the room was only
light with candles. There was a lava lamp in the corner that was a bright red and the
door was nothing but a beaded curtain. The wall in front of us had been painted with
peace signs and flowers. You could just feel the power of the “summer of love” filling
the room.
He leaned over toward me and as some would say whispered
sweet nothings in my ear. Having no problem with this trip back into time, I didn’t
complain when he then leaned over toward me and kissed me on my lips. I felt his tongue part my lips and enter into me. His hands wondering over my body embracing me tighter and pulling me closer to him. As his body came over mine I surrendered to the passion drivin man that layed over me. That night was one of pure excitement and wonder. After that night i never returned back “home” to the ninties. I hope I never do either for I’ve found out really that this is “HOME.”
