Hello and welcome to

Primal scream

a small web site devoted to my love and caring for rats

My experience with rats at first were just as a pet, and have now become alot more.  My first rat was a soft yellow, and tan hooded. I named him MaxxxiMillion, (Maxxx for short)  He lived to about maybe two years old and died suddenly of cancer.  the next rat I bought was named Logan.  He was also a hooded, but was larger than what you might find at a local pet store.  He was black and white, and loved to play.  The last rat I owned was DirtNap.  He was a black silver.  At full length before he passed away in his sleep, he was nearly 3 feet long tail and all.

At present I have 15 rats, all mature.  Just this morning due to a mix up while cleaning cages, apparently one of the females was put into the cage with the males, and I now have 6 babies.  2 had died over the night and were cold.  I buried them on a hill over looking a set of bushes and trees.  The strange thing is that I never named any of the last litter, save for one red eyed albino male--Snowball, and the father to these...Gandolf.

Somehow recently, I managed to get the males mixed up, and a female got into the cage with the males.  One night as I was on the internet I heard chirping, as it was 4 am I knew it wasn't birds, so I looked in the cage.

Low and behold did I find a female guarding 8 babies!!! two had died I later found out, and later another disappeared.  So now I have yet another little of 5, and they are so adorable now. they have their eyes open , and are jumping all over the cage.  I'll keep everyone updated, and try to get pix of these lovelies.
