As planned, singer/songwriter Sarah McLachlan will once again take the Lilith Fair on tour this summer across North America, with the travelling musical festival rolling into select Canadian cities (Toronto, Calgary, Edmonton and Vancouver) by mid-August.
While the 57-date tour starts June 19th in Portland, Oregon, Canadian fans will have to wait till August 15th-16th for the tour's first Canadian stop, in Toronto at the Molson Amphitheatre. (Ticket info is expected in late June).
There is a chance, however, that an Ottawa date may happen the day before at Landsdowne Park. Contrary to other reports circulating around the net, this date has not been finalized. "We're still fighting for an Ottawa date," promoter Ken Craig, the local representative for Universal Concerts Canada, told the Ottawa Sun's Ben Rayner last night. He added there's still "a very, very strong chance" at least one promoter will lure a visit from Lilith to the Capital.
The Toronto dates will be followed by a trio of national dates a few weeks later, with stops in Calgary on August 28th and Edmonton August 29th (venues TBA). The tour ends August 31st in McLachlan's hometown of Vancouver at Thunderbird Stadium.
Details of the tour, artists performing and other attractions of the festival were announced Thursday in Los Angeles by McLachlan and other Lilith Fair performers Paula Cole, Missy, Meredith Brooks and Liz Phair during a press conference.
