Darrell Power was born in Outer Cove, Newfoundland. Located just 10 minutes north of St. John's. Darrell is the son of Hazel and Patrick-> Paddy Power. He has two other brothers and two sisters. It was his father that turned him on to traditional music. In his spare time, you might find Darrell in a coffee shop, or at an Irvings. (Home of the best pea soup I've ever had in my whole life!) He plays the bass on stage as well as vocals, but he can also play mandolin, fiddle, accordion, and harmonica. I've heard that he isn't the best at those instruments though. The song "Jakey's Gin" came from his father. They were able to learn the song, and play it on stage a couple of times, and put it on an album-> Play, just before Paddy died. Which I find is a very sad story, and I always think of it every time I hear the song. Darrell dedicated one of their awards at the East Coast Music Awards to his father which I thought was really sweet.
