The Barra MacNeils!!
The Barra MacNeils have been making music all their lives, but the last 5 or 6 years they've really made their mark in the public eye. The name "Barra" comes from the Scottish Isle Barra, and "MacNeil" is their last names. These multi-instumentalists siblings- Stewart, Sheumas, Kyle, and Lucy are the older brothers and sister to Ryan and Boyd MacNeil from the group Slainte Mhath. They're self titled first cd came out in 1986. Followed by Timeframe which won Album of the Year at the 1992 East Coast Music Awards. Their release of "Closer to Paradise" brought them even closer to the publics eye. They released a more traditional Celtic cd called "The Traditional Album" in 1994 and "The Question" was released in 1995 and was the last cd released under Polydor. In April of 1997, the Barra's left Polygram and made their own label called Celtic Aire Records. They're latest cd is called "Until Now". Since their album of the year award at the ECMA's, they've won other awards like best pop/rock act in 1996. For more info, you can visit their homepage here.
