BICKLEY LOGO

Bickley is a Houston punk band that mostly sings about sex, beer, and weird sexual fetishes. These guys have a great instrumental sound, but the main thing that stands out is Ben Fondled's gruff voice. All of their songs sound good, but sometime they sing about stupid things like Johnny Dynamite and car wrecks. Other than a few stupid songs the rest rules! Favorite songs include "Sally",(which is a spoof on country music) "Down The Hatch",(an alcoholics theme song), "Piss Fetish", "Teen Porno Star", and "Pink Power Ranger" round out the sex category. I give them a 7.5.

BAD VOODOO DADDY

Big Bad Voodoo Daddy Self Titled
Coolsville Records
Po Box 8893
Red Bank, New Jersey 07701-9694

Ok so the page name lies, this page will have a little swing on it (very little). BBVD is an 8 piece swing band that reached massive popularity when their song "You, Me, and the Bottle Makes Three Tonight" played on mtv. BBVD is a great sounding swing band with peppy horns, but the lyrics usually come off as stupid. The instruments click fine with good swing vocals, but the fact remains that all their songs are about swings or people in swing. Despite the often boring and repetitive lyrics, this album is fun to listen to and makes me want to learn how to swing. Out of the 12 songs only 2 aren't that good. Favorite songs include "You, Me, and the Bottle Makes Three", "The Boogie Bumper", and "Mr. Pinstripe Suit". I give them an 8.

BIGWIG

Bigwig Unmerry Melodies
Fearless Records
13772 Goldenwest St. #545
Westminster, Ca 92683

Bigwig is a four piece pop punk band that sounds a little like Propagandhi, but a lot more poppy with a few heavier more serious songs. Anyone that likes Fat Wreck Chords style punk will want to buy this album. Bigwig has some cool guitar riffs and the rest of the instrumental sounds fine, but the best thing about this band is the vocals and the variety of types of songs they have. The vocals are usually fun, but on some songs hhave a serious edge. The types of songs include funny "Old Lady", serious "Prolife Taker", fun " Cheers Theme", and love " The Giirl In The Green Jacket". This is a solid, all around pop punk release that needs to be bought. I give them an 8.5

BLANKS 77

Blanks 77 Killer Blanks
Radical Records
77 Bleecker St. Suite C2-21
NYC, Ny 10012

Killer Blanks 77 play 77 style punk with a little atitude and a normal 77 style punk voice ( which is earnestly yelled out with a little anger and a hint of snottyness). The instrumental on this album is pretty cool with some thick basslines and a few cool guitar riffs and solos. The voice is quick and yelled (not yelled out like Minor Threat, but not really sung) out, which is pretty cool, but can get annoying after a while. The choruses are better and shouted frequently with a bunch of ois. The Blanks 77 sing about typical punk stuff, and all together it blends good with the instrumental. Favorite songs include "Punks and Skins", "Search and Destroy", and "Chelsea Girls". If you like 77 style punk that bops along this album is for you. I give it a 7.

BLANKS 77 5

Blanks 77 Tanked and Pogoed
Radical Records
77 Bleecker St. Suite C2-21
NYC, Ny 10012

I like their album Killer Blanks much, much more. This album as pretty much the same instrumental, (with fewer cool guitar riffs), but the voice is so fucking annoying. The vocals are slurred and too snotty for this style of punk. This album also has about no shouted choruse and no ois (which I liked from the first album). If you liked the first album a lot, you might want a sound sample of this one before buying. I wouldn't recommend this one unless you are a diehard fan of 77 style punk or the Blanks 77. I give it a 4.

BLINK 182 3

Blink 182 Dude Ranch

Blink-182 is a pop punk band that reached mtv and radio popularity with their song "Dammit". Blink-182 is a solid, (but not special), pop punk band in which two guys sing in most of their songs. The vocals are snotty, ( but not too snotty), and only gets annoying on a few songs when the guys voice is too high. When you think of the vocals think of them as a little like early Queers. The instrumental is general pop punk that sounds usually the same all the way through with little special to be noticed. Most of the songs are very good, the only bad songs are because of the high voice. The lyrics seem to mostly be about love and girlfriends, ( another reason they're on Mtv). Favorite songs include "Dammit", "Josie", and "Pathetic". Buy this cd if you like pop punk with little punk and a lot of pop (keep in mind these guys were on mtv). I give it a 7.5.

BLOUNT 3
Blount Trauma
FEARLESS RECORDS
]13772 Goldenwest St. #545
Westminster, Ca 92683

Blount is a pop punk band with vocals that don't seem to match the music well, but actually kinda do. These guys sound pretty good, but nothing that I can really recommend buying right now. The instrumental is quick paced and the voice sometimes seems to be left behind in the quick riffs, other times though it fits perfectly and sounds great. The voice itself is too deep and monotone, and gets annoying after 13 songs straight. Most of their songs are about daily life, work, and important time alone. I don't really have a favorite song, they're all ok, but nothing stands out as great. Only buy this cd if you've heard and liked them, or really love any kind of pop punk. I give it a 6.
