Gluegun
Gluegun The Scene Is Not For Sale
Fearless Records
13772 Goldenwest St. #545
Westminster, Ca 92683

I like this cd a lot, even though it really isn't something I'd picture being in my cd player. Gluegun plays quick mellodic hardcore punk, with social and personal lyrics. The guitar on this album is quick, heavy, and bouncy, but the bass remains mostly heavish. The vocals on this album are serious and sometimes hardcorish, at other time though they can be mellodic. I like these guys a lot, because their style is totally new to me and I love the parts on their lyrics that are shouted out. But don't worry this album isn't really hardcore and doesn't have satanish stuff on it. Just remember they are mellodic too. Favorite songs include "Drug Life", "The Scene Is Not For Sale", and "Powder Keg". I give them a 6.5

Good Riddance

Good Riddance For God and Country
Fat Wreck Chords
PO Box 460144
San Francisco, Ca 94146

Let me start off by saying this is one of my favorite albums of all time. On this cd these guys play very heavy pop punk, with political/ social lyrics. The instrumental is very heavy and quick, with a few pauses before it starts up again. The vocals on this album are very emotional, you can tell that these guys are very serious about what they believe. Fans of political punk bands like Anti-Flag and Propagandhi will love the lyrics and most likely the music. Every song on this cd is great, except for one that I really just don't like. Even though they're on Fat, don't except the typical Fat fair. I give them a 10.

Good Riddance

Good Riddance A Comprehensive Guide To Moderne Rebellion
Fat Wreck Chords
PO Box 460144
San Francisco, Ca 94146

I guess I'll first have to say that after For God and Country this album is a major dissapointment. I guess the reason is, is that this album is more melodic and less emotional. The instrumental is way less heavy and much more melodic, which on this album just doesn't sound as good to me. The vocals are a lot less emotional, and much more mellow. The lyrics are still political/social/personal, but without the emotion and the heavier instrumental just doesn't sound the same. A few of the songs show shades of For God and Country, but it just doesn't come through. Don't get me wrong, this album is good, but just not in comparison to their first album. I guess Fat Wreck Chords changed them to fit their style. I give them a 6.

Green Day

Green Day Slappy
Lookout Records
Po Box 11374 Berkeley, Ca 9470

This album is very early Green Day, and is also very good Green Day. When you think of this album, don't think of their new albums Insomniac and whatever the newest one is. This album is very melodic, but at times can be quick and poppy. The instrumental is usually slow pop punk, but can speed up at times. I will say the instrumental isn't that original though. What I really like on this album is Billy Joes vocals, which sound somewhere between a surfer and a slacker voice. Most of the songs are about girls or personal stuff, with one or two comical songs thrown in. Fans of early Lookout Records bands should get this album. I give it a 6.5.

Green Day

Green Day 1,039/ Smoothed Out Slappy Hours
Lookout Records
PO Box 11374
Berkeley, Ca 94701

This is another really old Green Day album which sounds exactly like Kerplunk. It features the same fast or slow pop punk guitar riffs and Billy Joes slacker/surfer voice. This album is pretty good, but not really anything special. For more information look at my review of Green Days other old album Kerplunk. Buy this one if you're a fan of early Lookout punk. I give it a 6.5.

Green Day

Green Day Dookie

This is Green Day's transition album between being punk or sellouts. Despite being the transition album, it is actually my favorite Green Day album. The reason I like this album a bit more is that its a bit faster than the earlier Green Day albums, but still has the same sound and vocals. Its really too bad that these guys sold out after this and their music became weaker. This album is very melodic, fans of early Lookout stuff or quick melodic punk should buy this. Favorite songs include "Basket Cae", "Longview", and "Welcome To paradise". I give it a 7.

Guttermouth

Guttermouth Musical Monkey
Nitro Records
7071 Warner Ave, F-736
Huntington Beach, Ca 92647

Guttermouth is a crazy pop/skate punk band that deals with political/social issues by making fun of them. The instrumental is quick paced skate punk style, which is cool, but nothing unexpected. The vocals are comical in a snotty way, which goes with the absurd lyrics perfectly. This kind of punk isn't really my favorite type, but Guttermouth does a good job at it. Favorite songs include "Lucky The Donkey", "Whats The Big Deal?" and "Bakers Dozen". I recommend these guys to fans of snotty skate punk, but I suggest listening to them before buying. I give them a 6.5.

Guttermouth
Guttermouth Teri Yakimoto
Nitro Records
7071 Warner Ave. F-736
Huntington Beach, Ca 92647

I like this album a little more than Musical Monkey, because its a little more serious and the vocals or less crazy and absurd. The instrumental is still fast skate/pop punk, and the vocals are still comical in a snotty way, but they are more serious and less comical on this album. This album is good because its more open to different types of fans of punk music, instead of just comical/ snotty fans. This album is more musical than the other album, instead of a big joke. Favorite songs include "Teri Yakimoto", "Use Your Mind", "7 T's", and "Generous Portions". I give it a 7.

Guttermouth
Guttermouth The Album Formerly Known As Full Length LP
Nitro Records
7071 Warner Ave. F-736
Huntington Beach, Ca 92647

This album sounds more like Musical Monkey, meaning its kinda crazy and all over the place. The instrumental is general quick skate punk like their other albums. The vocals are still comical and shouted. The lyrics are still more comical than serious. So actually nothings changed, read the other Guttermouth reviews. I give it a 6.5.
