PUNK    and    SKA    Bands    "L"

Less Than Jake Losing Streak

Less Than Jake is a quick paced ska band, with punk guitar intros. The instrumental is mainly quick ska guitar, with punk intros, and peppy horns. The vocals sound like slacker/surfer punk, with some over emphesis on words, which can get annoying. All around it clicks to form a great sound which to me is pretty original. Trust me this cd is worth $12! Favorite songs include "Dopeman", "Automatic", and "9th At Pine". Once again buy this if you love quick paced ska, with a little punk here and there. I give it an 8.

This album is a compilation of 4 early Less Than Jake records. On this album Less Than Jake is faster and has more of a ska/punk feel. The instrumental is faster pace ska/punk, or sometimes the guitar is even pure punk. Poppy horns accompany the music on most songs. The vocals still have a surfer/slacker sound to them with over emphesis on some words or sounds, which gets fucking annoying. Over all this albums best sound is on the ska/punk songs. Buy this album if you want to hear many different sounds from one good ska/punk band. I give them an 8.

Limp is a great alturna-pop punk band. I say alturna-pop punk band because they are a mellow pop punk band that sounds like nothing else. The instrumental is quick, but sounds unlike any punk I've ever heard. The guitar on this album has some unique riffs that sound great. The vocals on this album also sound different from all punk I've ever heard, even though it sounds different it sounds great. All and all this album is great, but can't capture the sound or energy of a live Limp show. I give it a 9.
