MAYHEM: "A Grand Declaration of War" Norway's legends of true Black Metal have returned with a breathtaking new album that is as unique as it is diabolical. Taking a bold step and fusing their over-the-top Black Metal sounds with chilling spoken word passages and destructive mechanical sounds, Mayhem has succeeded where many genre-bending acts fail. Mayhem, have chosen the path of re-invention over stagnation, where lesser bands would be content to rest on Mayhem's considerable laurels- This is a new, well-oiled killing machine here, fully ready to impart its nihilistic message to any one brave enough to survive its undeniable power! "A Grand Declaration of War" is easily the most challenging and complex Black Metal album the genre has produced, a testament to the lasting commitment of Mayhem, and the band's refusal to follow any will but their own! This is the soundtrack not only for the apocalypse, but for what happens next! So, prepare for the ultimate aural expression of unrepentant misanthropy and total disgust for the human race- this is Pure Fucking Armageddon as only the true, cursed MAYHEM can deliver it! The band is looking to tour the US in Summer.

NECROPOLIS SET TO DARKEN U.S. SKIES WITH MAYHEM! Necropolis Records is proud to announce that they will be releasing the forthcoming album from Norwegian black metal lords, MAYHEM. Striking a deal with the French-based label Seasons of Mist, the upcoming SOM/Necropolis release will mark the very first time that MAYHEM will receive a proper stateside release, as well as MAYHEM's first full length album in over 5 years. "We've been called the #1 Black Metal label in the USA by magazines such as Billboard and others, and now we'll prove that fact once again. MAYHEM is the greatest black metal band in the world, and their new album will silence all naysayers. MAYHEM's long awaited new album will elevate the genre entirely and will show that Black Metal can be redefined without the use of elaborate orchestration and other elements that dilute the purity of the art" commented Necropolis President Paul Thind. "We're very excited about this new release and the band will certainly tour North America in a big way in support of it. The greatest thing is that our version of the album will have the EXACT same packaging as the EUROPEAN version. This is one thing that was very important to the band and both labels. US MAYHEM fans can rest assured that the DOMESTIC version of the album will be EXACTLY the same as the import. It's a great way to ring in the new millenium!" MAYHEM is currently preparing to enter the studio to record the upcoming album, which is scheduled for a domestic street date in the spring of 2000. MAYHEM's first-ever full North American tour is planned in conjunction with the album's release.
