Did you know...
--In October of '97, Daniel was going to quit SG but Darren convinced him to stay....thank goodness!!!!! I think the fame was probably a little overwhelming for Daniel as he seems to be a very shy person.
--TRULY MADLY DEEPLY was originally an up-beat song called MAGICAL KISSES and was going to be an unlisted track in their album but their producers saw it as a smash hit so they slowed it down and named it TRULY MADLY DEEPLY
--there's a secret part in TRULY MADLY DEEPLY...near the end when Darren sings the beginning of the song again but there's no guitar, only percussion... someone whipers very softly I Love You... people with good hearing hears this but a lot of people don't know about it... it's really quiet...the location of it is right after "...deeply do..." and right before the 'mm-mmm" part...it is louder on the left speaker and you can hear it better if you pop the CD in the computer... the timing of it is about 2:54.
--In I WANT YOU... the part where some lady sings the high computer-ish sounding operaO-ish part...well she is saying SLOWLY AS THE ANIMALS FALL SO FAR AHEAD... but I have no clue what that has to do with the song.
--Before SG became well known, Daniel used to have long hair like Darren did, and Darren had a blondish-brownish hair color like Daniel does now.
--In Santa Monica, when the operator is speaking, she is saying "Welcome to Disneyland" |

Darren and Daniel met through a want ads in an Aussie magazine. Daniel was in a band named,"Red Edge" and they were looking for someone else to join the band, and of course, Darren applied. Before Darren applied, he was going to college to become a teacher (that's how him and Colby met). There were 22 people that applied for the part, and Darren won. Daniel and Darren instantly became friends. After the band broke up, they continued to write songs and went on to pursue their own careers in music together.
A question that pops up alot, is how they came up with their band name. Most Savage Garden fans know by now that Savage Garden got their name from Anne Rice's vampire novels. Anne Rice described the world as a "Savage Garden." Darren and Daniel liked the name and stuck with it.
Savage Garden was the talk of the world with their debut single,"I Want You" also known as the Chic-A-Cherry Cola song. Then, their biggest hit of all,"Truly, Madly, Deeply," reached the charts at #1 knocking Elton John off the charts. Right now, Savage Garden is working on their 2nd album which is planned to be released during the summer. (for more info. on how their doing on the charts, check out the "charts" page) |
