Chapter 9: Never Gonna Let You Go
Two weeks later…
"This is a pretty spot, Lily," Nick sighed, as he nestled his lip against her neck. Giggling slightly, Lilia laid her head on his shoulder.
"Mmm-hmm…I thought so too. It's nice and quiet, and there aren't too many neighbors around that will get annoyed with I start to beat on my instruments. There will be a lot of noise coming from this place soon enough," Lilia said.
"I'll warn the neighborhood. How do you like living here?" he asked. Lilia had successfully moved herself to the Sunshine State. She had managed to find a very secluded little beach house that was within her price range, she had completed the sale of Genuine to her father and she had survived the constant griping of her friends throughout the entire ordeal. Premiere was pretty upset because she was a good hour's drive away from the house they were sharing. Nick could understand her need to be a hermit for awhile, knowing that she had just really found herself, and that she needed to explore what she had discovered more before she could depend on others.
"It's nice. I miss the city though. It's almost too quiet out here, but then there are nights like these, when you're here with me, and the sky is so pretty, when I wonder why I could ever had walked away from-"
"Hey, let's not talk about that right now. Let's just enjoy this moment for awhile, like we used to. Penny for your thoughts?" Nick whispered, bringing back such a flood of happy memories, that it was all that Lilia could do to keep from bursting into tears of joy. She was so happy, she was almost giddy twenty four hours a day.
"I'm thinking about…why there is a car pulling up in my drive way?" she asked with a frown, as she cocked her head to one side, hearing a car door slam. Jumping up from Nick's lap where she was sitting, she walked around to the other side of the house, Nick trailing from behind her.
"I don't believe it!" Lilia declared quietly. A very feminine form was heading towards the front door.
"Don't bother knocking, we're right here," Lilia said. Her voice was cold.
"Sasha, I don't understand. Why are you here?" Nick demanded. The infamous ex-girlfriend turned towards the couple, looking haggard and worn.
"So it is true. I heard that you had gone back to her," she said, shaking her head.
"Look Sasha, anything that we had is over and it's ancient history. It's nothing you need to be bothering Lily with, alright?" Nick said slowly and forcefully.
"I can't live without you anymore Nick. I just can't anymore! And now that you're with her! I might as well just drive off a fucking cliff!" Sasha cried.
"Oh my god, how pathetic are you?" Lilia cried.
"What?" Nick asked.
"Sasha, he doesn't deserve you. You are too good for him. Seriously, you would have done anything for him, and what does he do? He dumps you and goes running to the girl who left him and broke his heart. You don't need him. You are better than him," Lilia said bluntly. Sasha looked like she was about to protest, but Lilia silenced her.
"You don't need him. Look at you, you are gorgeous! Why are you wasting your time on someone like this dumb ass who couldn't realize how perfect you were for each other? You are better than this. He used you, you were only a rebound to him. He didn't realize what he had. Why are you putting up with this? What's special about him? You did almost everything for him, and what did he do for you? He dropped you flat." Sasha looked amazed at what she saying.
"You know what? You are absolutely right. I don't need you! You used me. You bastard!" she declared. Amazed, Nick watched her march to her car, give him the finger, and then drive off.
"Okay, what just happened her?" he asked.
"It worked, Nick. That's all that matters. She's gone. Poor girl, she really is pathetic," Lilia said shaking her head. Wrapping her arms about him, she started walking back around the house, to the patio where they had been sitting, dragging Nick with her.
"So if I'm such a horrible person that can't appreciate what he's got, why on earth are you with me?" he asked.
"Oh, have you forgotten, I'm clinically insane. It's the only explanation," she said simply.
"I'm so glad we're together, Lily," he said, with such a "basket case" expression on his face that it sent Lilia to giggles.
"Seriously, I mean it. I'm never going to let you go, ever," he said, as he tightened his arms around her. Smiling as she looked into the eyes she loved so much, she kissed his chin.
"Let's just take it one day at a time," she said.
