Chapter 11: Obligations

They crept through the silent halls, giggling and laughing. Lilia unlocked her door and they wandered in and were surprised to see Paul, Sandy, Damon and Jacki sitting there, and all the lights on.

"What's going on guys? More importantly, why are you in my hotel room, at three in the morning?" Lilia asked, hoping the explanation would be good.

"Lilia, your aunt called while you were out. Well, not really your aunt, someone calling for your aunt called to talk to you," Paul began.

"Will you spit it out? Because I know that that isn't why you guys are all here on this lamplight vigil. Something happened, and if you expect to live to see tomorrow, you will tell me, or suffer," she threatened.

"Your aunt fell and broke her hip pretty badly. She's going to have to have hip replacement surgery and she might be in the hospital for awhile," Paul said. Lilia sighed, closing her eyes. Nick rested his had on her shoulder.

"Is she okay?" she asked and felt a huge surge of relief when Paul nodded. Her aunt was her only family she knew, she couldn't loose her.

"She'll be fine, but she's going to be laid up for awhile. And that means that…"

"-Someone needs to go and take charge of Genuine. And her, of course. I have to go home," she stated. Paul nodded his agreement.

"I thought so, Baby. We booked you on a flight home tomorrow afternoon," Paul said.

"No, you're not coming. I hate good byes, and you know that!" she cried the next morning.

"No I don't, and screw you, I'm coming!" Nick insisted.

"It's bad enough that Paul's coming, but you have to too? This is ridiculous. Fine, if you want to go, then you're going without me, because I'm not going with you," she declared. Nick rolled his eyes and sighed. He took her hands and tried to make her see reason.

"Lily, please! Let me go with you. I won't get to see you for god knows how long. Let me come with you. I need to get as much of you as possible," he pleaded. Giving into him, she nodded and allowed him access to the taxi.

She and her two escorts checked in, grabbed her tickets and found her gates. Nick disappeared for a few minutes, giving Lilia the chance to get teary with Paul without him there.

"Wow. I didn't expect to be leaving so early Paul, I really didn't. I had figured on staying for a few more weeks, at least until you left the US. But apparently it didn't work out that way," she said, her eyes misting over.

"We appreciate you coming Lilia. Honestly, I don't know how I could have done it without you there. The rest are good support and everything, but it's not the same as with you. And thank you for helping me sort everything out with Sandy, and for knowing and not saying anything," he said. She hugged him fiercely.

"Paul, I'm so proud of you. You're the one that's always known that Premiere was going places, and you pulled it off. I'm am so proud of you," she whispered, her tears overflowing.

"Wow, Baby, could we be any more gushy and sappy? Don't worry about you're aunt too much, I'm sure she'll be fine. And as soon as you can, come see us again, okay?" he asked.

"Do you even have to ask? Well, in your case, order?" she asked, smiling through her tears as she wiped them away madly, seeing the familiar blond head coming towards them. He walked up and handed her a flower proudly.

"A lily for my Lily," he declared. She sighed at the corniness of it, but was pleased by the gesture. She kissed him, and sniffed the delicate white flower. She twined her fingers around his, and they stood together, holding hands until the boarding call came, announcing that her flight was ready to depart.

"You promise you'll call?" she asked.

"Of course. Every moment that I can," he promised. She kissed him again, for a long moment, then hugged him as tightly as she could.

"I'm going to miss you," she said.

"Then come see me as soon as you can," he pleaded.

"As soon as I can," she promised, then picked up her bag and made her way to the door, looking longingly over her shoulder the whole way.
