THE RC5 ARE BACK!!! That's right, after a brief hiatus the band is back together with the addition of a second guitarist! More info coming soon but for now be sure to check out the band's web-site for show dates and news.
BIG NEWS!!! The RC5 have decided to call it a day. But fear not! Robb is jamming with Neil and Dan. Three ex-Zipgunners together in one band. This is definitely something to look forward to.
In other RC5 news, the band released an 8 song 10-inch on Estate Records entitled Kicked Out. There's no need to tell you that this rocks!
Even though the band is no longer together they are talking with Junk Records about releasing their semi-complete full-length. More on this as it comes in.
Big news, Bob has quit the RC5. He's been replaced with none other than Mark Wooten of Zipgun fame. As soon as he gets acquainted with the songs the band will head into the studio to record their full length for Junk Records.
The band will also be playing the NXNW music conference in a Junk records showcase on October 2nd. And later, a tour down the west coast.
The band also has a new four song 7-inch out, entitled Coming My Way on Junk Records. It's actually been out for awhile now so it's not really fair to call it new. Sorry for not posting that news sooner.

The RC5 have plans on doing a release with Twenty-Stone-Blatt Records out of Scotland. The label will also license some stuff in the UK for the band this summer. The You're Gonna Pay 7-inch is The second 7-inch, In The Bottle is going quick. Copies can still be ordered from Rhetoric and Get Hip but hurry! The band has a ton of local shows set up, check out their homepage for more info. And once the full-length on Junk Records is released the band will tour the Mid-West and the West Coast.
The RC5 will be contributing a song to a compilation CD that Electric Frankenstein will be putting out. The CD will be a
compilation of their 25 favorite bands. More info on this
as it comes in.
The band has put up a tour diary on their homepage. Check it out!
Lots of RC5 news to report this time. It looks like the
guys will be living in the studio for the next few months.
The band is scheduled to release some old lost 4-track recordings on vinyl this spring on My Fat Ass records. A 10" coming out in late April on Estate Records. A 7" will be coming out on the Yeah, It's Rock label. A Single and a follow up full-length on Junk Records is in the works for an early summer release. The band also will have an interview in an upcoming issue of MaxiumumRockNRoll and a show with the mighty
ELECTRIC FRANKENSTEIN on April 4th here in town. Oh, and an Estrus Records 7" after all the smoke clears from the above in late summer. The excitement lies within the fact that all the above recordings will be on labels that have world wide distribution, so the folks in Europe and Japan will get their grubby mitts on some of the 5's wax finally. All of this will be backed up with some extensive touring.
There have been some changes to the RC5 tour, but it will likely change again,
so I will wait until it's final before posting the changes.
The 2nd single, "In the Bottle" on My Fat Ass Records is on the streets. It will be distributed by Get Hip Inc., so it should get some good national distribution.
Latest offer for us is a 10" vinyl release on Estate Records, a great local label. We will use tracks from the Endino sessions (about 5 - 6 songs). Should be in works by mid-Feb.
Here are the dates for the February tour:
Feb. 12 @ Colorbox/Seattle, WA w/ Zeke
Feb. 13 @ Ironsides/Sacremento, CA w/ tba
Feb. 14 @ Diapiazza/Long Beach, CA w/ tba
Feb. 15 @ Dollhut/Anaheim, CA w/ tba
Feb. 16 @ Casbah/San Diego, CA w/ tba
Feb. 17 @ ??
Feb. 18 @ Spaceland/LA, CA w/ tba
Feb. 19 @ Bottom of The Hill/San Fran, CA w/ BrianJonestown Massacre
Feb. 20 @ EJ's/Portland, OR. w/ Hai Karate
The RC5 has been informally asked to do a album on
Junk Records. A very cool label out of Long Beach, CA. Some of their catalog consist of bands like: The Humpers, Candy Snatchers, Zeke, River City Rapists,
Reo Speeddealer, etc...The great thing about it is, it will be a full length CD/LP and get world wide distribution. I am personally excited because I buy all of Junk's
records, I have been a fan of that label for a long time and now we are being offered a LP. It's corny, but it's a dream come true. Tour is still on for Feb. starting here in Seattle w/ Zeke on the 12th and then straight to Sacremento, Aneheim, Long Beach, LA, Orange County, San Diego, LA, San Francisco, Portland, then home for a show w/ Zen Geurilla! Looking forward to it. We will have our second single out next week on My Fat Ass Records, and are recording a 3rd single this Sat. for the Bedazzled label. Then a split single with a great band callled Bell...Then it will be time to record for Junk. Things look good.
The "You're Gonna Pay" and "In The Bottle" singles will be available through mail-order from ESTRUS records, a label run by Dave Crider of the MONO MEN. Very exciting news because his distribution is very reliable and has a great reputation. Also the RC5 SHOULD be appearing at SXSW this coming March in an MT Booking showcase including: The Supersuckers, The Fastbacks, and Dusty-45's. Date and venue TBA later.
The RC5 will be kicking off a west coast tour in Febuarary at EJ's in Portland on the 11th. Then it's down to Sacramento, San Fransico, LA-LA Land, Anaheim, Costa Mesa, San Diego, and back up to San Fransico for one more on their way home. So no excuses for you people in the Bay area not to show up! The band will also have new black T'shirts for the tour. Woo hoo!
The RC5 have released their first seven inch today. It's a four song 7" titled "You're Gonna Pay" and it's on Small Town Records. It has a limited pressing of 600 (100 on clear vinyl and 500 on black) so get your's today! Check out the Links page for more info!
