This is my 454SS. I have had it for over 4 years now. I am going to keep it as factory as possible with some performance exeptions. I use parts such as Eddelbrock, Holley, GM, and other name brands. Modifications on my truck include an Eddelbrock cat back system (performance exhaust) an Alpine CD changer, Hypertech Performance chip (160 degree thermostat required), a new Auburn Gear hi performace rear differential, solid rear window,"454" Valve covers, new GM Fog Lights and for now that is all. Future plans include tinting the hell out of the windows, hard bed cover, bed carpet and some modifications to help performance. She needs a paint job as well.

....A LITTLE HISTORY OF THE 454SS....
Chevrolet's 454SS is one of a kind. If the bass rumble of a big block V-8 powered muscle truck trips your trigger then this is the truck for you! This C1500 regular-cab, short box truck is a high performance full size pickup with the awesome 454ci 7.4 liter eight cylinder engine. These were produced from 1990 until 1993 with 13,748 produced in 1990, 983 in 1991, 1,379 in 1992 and 843 in 1993 with a total of 16,953 units all manufactured and assembled at only one General Motors Plant located in Fort Wayne, Indiana. The 454SS is a pure thrill machine. The stock models are good for mid to high 15 second range in the quarter mile, but be aware that a heavy foot can have some affect on the old wallet with these trucks averaging 10-12 Miles Per Gallon! In the 13,748 models Chevrolet produced in 1990, the 454SS came standard with the killer 454ci V-8 engine, the Turbo 400 3-speed transmission and a 3.73 rear axle gear ratio. This truck produced a total of 230 hp and 385 foot pounds of torque and was available in Onyx Black only and came with the Plush Garnet Red Interior, high back reclining bucket seats and a center console. In the 983 454SS models produced in 1991, 1,379 in 1992 and 843 in 1993, Chevrolet improved on the 7.4 liter 454ci engine to reach 255hp and 405 foot pounds of torque, the 4L80-E 4-speed overdrive transmission was added along with a 4.10 rear axle gear ratio. The colors available these years were Onyx Black, Summit White and Victory Red. Thank you for taking the time to read a little history of the Chevrolet 454SS.
