The majority of photos on this page are from Drain's
headlining show at the Pig Pen in Clinton, IA on July 31, 1998.
Through my own negligence, I didn't bring a camera to the other
3 Drain shows I attended. I wasn't about to make the same mistake
again witnessing what an amazing band Drain is live. So I killed
a whole roll of film at this show barely saving some exposures
to take with the members of Drain after the show! Nevertheless,
these pictures pale in comparison to the intensity Drain STH unleashes
onstage. Drain is definitely a band to see live to fully enjoy!

Before I get any farther into the Pig Pen show, the
top images from OZZfest were a couple of things Drain signed after
their blazing performance on the second stage in broad daylight.
In recognition of the awesome tune, "Smile," I had Drain
sign my "I love Jesus" air freshener in which they each
cracked a smile when signing. They are so fan-friendly,
they also signed my DrainSTH postcard.

These photos of Drain STH are from a headlining performance
at the Pig Pen in Clinton, IA. Interestingly enough, the only
other show I've seen at the Pig Pen was Type O Negative &
Drain almost a year & half earlier (2-8-97) which also was
the first time I heard Drain as well as see them perform live.
That was enough to suck me down the drain; I've been a big fan
ever since.

My next opportunity to see Drain (June 5, 1997) in
Grand Rapids, MI was a bust. They were part of the off-night Ozzfest
touring bill that included Fear Factory and Powerman 5000 with
Type O Negative headlining. This show at the Orbit Room was listed
as an 8pm start, so I arrived a few minutes after 8pm only to
see an empty stage. "Maybe the show is late getting started,"
I thought. Then I noticed people waving and yelling up to the
forbidden-access balcony. When I looked up, I saw what appeared
to be a few of the girls from Drain! Suddenly it dawned on me
that they had already performed and were getting set to
watch the remainder of the show! Yeah, you could say I was little
upset. And I really only wanted to see them since I've seen the
others before.

The only redeeming factor of that Grand Rapids show
was getting to talk to Anna and Maria during the remainder the
show and having them to sign a Drain poster. Then even later hanging
outside by the buses as they patiently waited for Type O Negative
to leave was cool. Another note: Johnny Kelley of Type O had Anna
come up onstage by the drumkit to sing "Black No. 1"
with the band.

My next chance to see Drain live was at Ozzfest at
the New World Theatre outside of Chicago, June 19, 1997. Even
in broad daylight, they kicked ass on the 2nd stage. And one of
things that makes Drain such a cool band to love, after their
set, they spent a considerable amount of time hanging out with
the fans and signing autographs. They are so sweet!
The ticket pictured above is obviously from the Pig
Pen show July 31, 1998 and the main reason why I decided to create
this page. Not just because I now have several photos of them
performing live but because this show reaffirmed to me what an
incredibly awesome band this is and how deserving they are of
even more exposure on the Internet. I love all the Drain fan Sites
(which is why I chose to link to a few of them here) and my hopes
are that even more people have an opportunity to witness this
band live and hopefully support them by buying their CD. I want
Drain to be around for a long time!
DJHooDoo w/Anna striking their serious looks after
the show. Next time I'm gonna get Anna to smile in the photo. |

Maria w/"brother" (as she put it). This was
the very last frame on the roll. Since we were low on pictures
after the show, Justin didn't get pics w/Martina or Flavia. Maybe
next tour... |

I've already written captions for the photos we took
with band but I still cannot stress just how cool they are in
person. I hope all Drain fans get a chance to meet and talk with
them. I expect to add a few more things to this website as time
goes on, so if you've made it this far, please stop back to see
if there's anything new. Rather then rehash the same information
that's already covered to it's fullest extent on several other
Drain sites, I expect to keep a more personal tone to this page.
Darkone w/Anna again striking that "serious"
look. Anna is really cool. She said they expect to work on their
CD for an early 1999 release as soon as they finish touring next
month (Sept). |

Martina was the next Drain band member we talked to; she is
super sweet. These photos are in the order we met each member. |
 |
Flavia was super modest. She didn't want her picture
taken since she said she didn't have any make-up on. Yet I told
her she still looked great. |
 |
We walked outside in the dark to catch Maria by the
bus. She has such a great attitude w/the fans. It was so dark
we couldn't even see when we took these pictures just hoping
we got the shot. And we did! |
