Kristen's Concert in Philly
Philadelphia is far from NY. It took 3 and a half hours to get to Philly and then we got kinda lost...or just had to look around for stuff. When we found South Street and Duncan's name on top of the marquee of the TLA. Cars were parked up and down both sides of the street. Farther down we found a parking garage. It was only 7pm and we had 2 hours to spare. So we walked around a lill bit and then walked over to the TLA . There was a line outside already and we asked what it was for? She said Duncan Sheik..and I was like yeah...we're in the right place! It was barley 8 and people were walking by on the sidewalk asking what this was for and we said Duncan Sheik and their responce was usually "who?" or..."Oh, I think I've heard of him". Some people saw his name on the marquee and could'nt even read his name! Sheeshh...I swear if I was in the right mood I woulda made such a scence and break out into Barely breathing. Then we got in and ran to the front of the stage because it was open floor and we had to claim our spot. Luckily we were in the front and squished against the board in front of us but there were already people in front of Duncan's mic so we were to his left. Some girls came over screaming to her friends next to us " I met him and he kissed me..right here on my head!!!"..it was kinda funny. Finally at 9 hooverphonic came on stage. I loved em!! Totally knocked my socks off! I so wanted to jump up and down but these 2 girls were leaning really hard against me. At first I just though they were lesbians but then figured whether that's true or not they were just selfish because one of em squished herself between me and the guy next to me..there was no room but somehow mananged to push me over.
I can't remember the line up of the songs but "Rubbed Out" was first. "Serena", "She Runs Away" In Abscence of Sun", he said " this is on the soundtrack of the Saint, a horrrible movie". He did "Barely Breathing" which rocked the house..had us all singing. "Wishful Thinking" which he still can't remember how to start. He goes to his guitarist to start together and after about 4 minutes of trying duncan went back to the mic and said " This time we Fucked Up!" He had us all laughing and it was so endearing. After that he did it beautifully! He also did "Bite Your Tongue" which also rocked the house. "Alibi", A Body Goes Down" he said "this is a tribute to a great musician" and as we screamed and cheered he knodded in agreement. "That says It All" and I really wanted to scream "Mick Jagger!!!!" But It seems I lost my voice. "In Between", "Varying Degrees Con-Artistry". Then Duncan and the band exited but we stood there and screamed untill he came back. They came back on and he sat on his stool and said "you guys rock!" He played "House Full Of Riches" and said "this is the last tortured song of the night". Then he said " my sister was born 10 minutes from now and she's here tonight and this song is for you Casey! He played "Home" for her. After we screamed and applauded again the house lights whent on . We exited and spotted a group of people one girl had pin-striped pants and another girl had leather pants on. I shrugged it off and went and bought t-shirts! One was for Ali and one for me. The we headed down the street to Tower Records to meet Duncan. The two girls were on line right behind us and I turned around and asked them if one of their names was Amy and the girl closest to me said " that's me!". I said I was Kristen and then Meg introduced herself....then there was a man there with a camera and I got pulled into the pic and said "this is Joe!" We chatted while on line the whole time about Duncan, the concert and just everything. I started talking to this man in front of me and he was very interseting to say the least. He was a musician and told us some of the crazy things he's done. By the time we got to the stairs we could see Duncan....he has nice hair..anyway Amy's friend came along and she's not a fan but was there for support..she said " I bet ya I could spit on him from here". He had a glass of wine and I said pretty loud " hey share some!" We fianlly got down there and I was the first in our merry lill group. It was my turn and we made eye contact. He has really nice eyes. There were a pile of posters on the table and I asked him to sign one and wish me a happy sweet 16 birthday he said excitedly "it's your birthday??..he looked like he was ready to pounce. I could'nt lie so I told him it's the 25 and he calmed down. He asked me what my name was and I found it odd that this time he had to ask how to spell it...last time he just did and it and happened to be right. I said to him " You knew how to spell it at the Virgin Megastore" I was getting punchy...it was after all 1ph I think maybe he was a bit tipsy. He started for the next person but I quickly put my hand out so that he could shake he fumbled with his pen it and he looked right into my eyes.....HUGE SMILE...and said good bye. I stepped back and waited for the group. Soon the security guards were telling us to move I said jokingly " we should move we're disturbing the flow" then Joe was left and they wanted us to wait outside now. Then Joe came out and my dad was there ready to go home. We all said good bye, it was nice meeting you, and I'll e-mail you. them we were on our way home and we finally reached our destination at 5:40...took kinda long cuz my dad was pulling over to take some short naps.. now I'm looking at my poster in disbelief yet again and saying yeah...this is great. Hopefully not the last time.
