The privilege of working with such "Monsters" like the Boilerhouse Blues Band is unbelievable. I have had the opportunity to work with some exceptional musicians over the last 36 years. These guys are some of the best ever.
A few people that need to be thanked include:
Two uncles who instilled the want to keep working at your craft, Ray and Paul Amicangelo who were possibly two of the finest musicians ever {not just my opinion}. In the 40's, they were hot nation wide in the musicians circles. Many big names would travel to Iron Mountain, MI just to jam a little with the Ray Amicangelo Trio. {Got my start with them at age 6 singin' jazz}
At an early age I was exposed to some of the classics. Mario Lanza was required practice. Ella Fitzgerald music would be playing in headphones while sleeping. Every once in a while there would be some Mel Torme' to learn phrasing. There were also many Classic Blues and rock influences {too many to mention here}.
Learning to create power, intonation, phrasing, range and breath control are an ongoing task. Working with these true greats have made all the difference in the world. Trying to keep up with the members in The Boilerhouse Blues Band is a task that I believe will continue to make my vocals better each and every time I go out to the stage.
For the techno buffs, I use a Shure SC Series Wireless Microphone. A Marcad Diversity receiver with a Beta 87 hand held mic. I'm very happy with this unit as the sound is very clean and the diversity allows me to go out into the crowd and work the room without loosing any signal. Also a Nady in ear monitor system allows me complete freedom and makes the entire night sound like it's in the studio.
The family has to put up with a lot when you play in a band and mine sure does.
The people who need to be thanked the most by any musician are the people who listen to us. Remember that as long as there are fine people who go out and catch some live music, or purchase recorded music, there will be more musicians practicing every day {even after 36 years} to make better sounds.........
Keep those Blues alive.........
