This page is going to try to relate some of the true feelings and experiences that go into a recording... We understand that these happenings are not just special to this recording but are put here to help anyone else who tries this endeavor. A wise man once said, "Learn from your mistakes and you'll be cool.... Don't pay attention to someone elses mistakes and you're a fool...
Day 1....Every one is a little tight. Not everyone in the band has recorded before. We have a writer from the local newspaper doing a story on the group while we are starting to lay down tracks.
Everyone plays at the same time with the vocals laid down also.
16 tracks at a time are done. Other tracks are available for overdubbing.
A few songs might be "in the can" after the first run... Have to sleep on them for a few days to see if they sound as good, after hearing them at a later date.
Day 2....
All equipment already in place from the night before. A few warm up tunes are played and then the work begins.
Everyone seems loose and the riffs start flowing. Jim starts "Summertime" { a Gershwin tune} with a keyboard solo. Dade comes in with vocals and the rest of the group follows in the next verse. When the song is finished, everyone comes into the board room with the hair on their arms standing on end. A one take keeper. Things are going well.
Day 3...
Starting anew...
Had to take a rather long breather from recording for various reasons. Back in the studio to start from scratch on May 25, 1998....
Yes Memorial Day...And what a day to remember. The songs have never sounded so good. The feel was to get everything in one shot. That means that the entire band is playing and not relying on overdubs this time. A better "live" sound is had by recording this way. You will soon be the judge. An unbelievable time at Hot Sax Studios.
May 31... Done with the music end of this project. Finished with the vocal harmonies. Now for the Mix to be done by the people who fine tune the little switches and make the magic come out.
The final mix was done at Smart Studios in Madison WI. Rod and Dan went down on a Monday morning and sat through the the mix - down for two days. Dade, Rick and Gary Strub went down for short trips to see how things were going. A special thanks to the folks at Smart Studios and the Majic Man.... Mark Haines { the man who pulled the switches }This guy is good...
Now the project is on it's way to David Tory at DRT Mastering to be mastered. This will make the recording sizzle .
Art work and pressing the CD's is being done at Filmwork Music by Bill Heydolf and his crew.

July 18... Dade stops in at one of the band's favorite stations {4:00 to 8:00 PM Saturdays, WWSP, 90 FM, hosted by Papa Joe} to deliver the first CD. Papa Joe plays cut #9. {Boilerhouse Blues} to make the first air play the CD receives. This is the only blues show in this part of the state and was fitting that this would be the first airing.
