James Murphy's solo album, Convergence is more than what you could expect from a solo album. It is a very thought-out album that maintains integrity without loosing focus on self-indulgent guitar playing.

Besides the magnificent performance by Deen Castronovo (Drums) and Brad Russell (Bass), you will find as guests a list of legendary musicians; Chuck Billy, Devin Townsend, Eddie Ellis, Eddie Head, Greg Howe, Matt Guillory, and Michalle Rae Dean. All the music is written by James Murphy except "Red Alert," though Eddie Head provides the lyrics for "Deeper Within," as well as Devin Townsend in "The Last One" and "Since Forgotten."

If you think James Murphy can only play Death Metal lead guitars, not only are you missing his performance in Testament, but you will have to reconsider his capabilities. James Murphy proves in Convergence his talent as a gifted guitar player who will become, without a doubt one of the most memorable guitar players of our time.

Lyrics

"Problems call for our courage and our wisdom; indeed they create our courage and our wisdom;
it is only because of problems that we grow... Learn not to dread but actually welcome problems.
"
        -M. Scott Peck from The Road Less Traveled

"The things I need Least are the things that I have the hardest time parting with. The process of weeding out, elimination, it's like going through withdrawls. It hurts to pull away, to leave things behind. The pain is temporary, like a lot of things."

          -Henry Rollins, Circa 1986

"There is no better remedy for turmoil than to let it take it's course and come to rest by itself..."
          -Baltasar Gracian, Circa 1658

Latest Information

James Murphy has returned from Copenhagen, Denmark where he was mixing a record for the Danish band Konkhra. The album is called "Weed Out The Weak" and besides the Danish band members Anders and Thomas, it features as special guests Chris Kontos (ex- Machine Head) on drums and James Murphy himself playing guitar solos on all songs. It is an excellent album, and should be available in a couple months.

Back in the United States, he is currently deciding which of 2 projects to tackle next - a new solo CD or a new Disincarnate CD. Either way he hopes to complete both by the end of this year.
