I am a huge fan of the 2-tone ska. 2-Tone Ska is an offshot, a special type of sceond wave ska. Coventry, in the English mainlands, was where the 2-Tone sound was born.

The hard sounds of British punk rock were fused with the brassy sounds of ska in the 2-Tone ska revival.Two-tone ska is faster, tighter and uses more horns than some older Jamaican ska. Second wave ska was the music for the man-in-street, the working people.

The cloths were also a big part of the 2-tone scene. Rude boys, as they were known, were the treadsetters of this era. A rude boy is not just an impolite male child. The street-cool toughs of Kingstown, Jamaica, dressed nattily in the latest and hep-est threads were known as rude boys and they ruled the Kingstown dance halls. The term spread to the UK, and was revived by second-wave ska fans in the UK.

Almost all 2-Tone bands were from England. Bands like the Specials and the Selecter were chart toppers in England. But never really reach stardom here in the States.
