I will be in Europe travelling for a few months between August and the end of the year, I've met some great people (from Europe) online over the years that have checked out kohllapse. I'd love to catch up with some of you so if you want to catch up or have a visit from a weary Aussie traveller I might be passing through your area. If so then send me an email to my travelling account: congobongo@mp3-email.com Please no spam or any thing else to this email address. If you want info on the band or anything else that isn't on this page or the mp3 site then send email to klaps@actonline.com.au and those people looking after my home email will help ya. take care, Ro.
I guess I have some explaining to do. in the past 2 years since the release of 'Distant Mind Alternative' things have been a little crazy. Firstly I want to say a heartfelt sorry to all of those that have emailed and written me without getting a reply. Secondly, with much regret, I have decided to close the book on Kohllapse.
Let me explain as best I can.
Shortly after I finished the recording of DMA I really felt like this was going to be my first real step into doing something serious with music. Hopefully most of you can see from the way the music is played and performed that it meant something really special to me, infact as it turns out it probably meant too much to me. When my friend and co-kohllapse partner Matt (drummer) left the band just after the release of DMA it really threw a big spanner in the works and all the plans and ambitions I had for Kohllapse fell in a hole, in turn I myself fell in a hole. While I don't blame Matt for leaving, it was something I guess he had to do, it turned kohllapse upside down.
In the two years since that time I can count on my hands the number of times I've picked up my guitar and played it. I was still keen to go onwards with kohllapse and a few times tried a few things to get it happening again but for many reasons which I won't go into it just wasn't going to happen. I'm sure it sounds pretty lame but it's taken about that long for me now to finally let the whole thing go and have a real ambition to move on to new things.
I would like to say thanks to everyone who wrote to Kohllapse over the years, I've had hundreds and hundreds of awesome letters. Thanks to everyone who bought or listened to a kohllapse album and got something out of it. The music and lyrics of both albums still holds true to me. Thanks to everyone from the zine, radio, webzine, media side of things who helped out kohllapse. it means more to me than anyone can realise!
So what now? well I'm getting back into things with a new and very serious project called 'DEAD SEA'. There will definately be some Kohllapse elements in this music but much more electronic.
I have set up a web site on www.mp3.com/kohllapse where eventually I'll make all the decent songs I did available for free. I'll also put up some DEAD SEA songs when they come together a little more.
I've already said it but THANKS to everyone for your support. I look forward to keeping in contact with heaps of you and seeing your response to DEAD SEA.
Be good and be happy,
CYA, Ro
