This page is dedicated to Dale J. Golding.
This is a picture of my brother. He was killed on February 25, 1989. He had just turned 18 yrs old. He and his best friend Doug, who was also a very good friend to me, were killed in a car wreck do to drinking and driving. The driver of the vehicle survived with only a few cuts and bruises. My brother who was sober wasn't so fortunate!
I am dedicating this page to him and all the other unfortunate souls that were killed by other peoples idiocy! This has to stop! If you drink at least be smart enough to call a cab! DO NOT DRIVE. I am adding a poem that I would like ya'll to take the time to read! It is very sad and hits home to many people out there.
DEATH OF AN INNOCENT
I went to a party, Mom, I remembered what you said. You told me not to drink, Mom, so I drank soda instead. I
really felt proud inside, Mom, the way you said I would. I didn't drink and drive, Mom, even though the others said
I should. I know I did the right thing, Mom, I know you are always right. Now the party is finally ending, Mom, as
everyone is driving out of sight. As I got into my car, Mom, I knew I'd get home in one piece. Because of the way
you raised me, so responsible and sweet. I started to drive away, Mom, but as I pulled out into the road, the other
car didn't see me, Mom, and hit me like a load. As I lay there on the pavement, Mom, I hear the policeman say, the
other guy is drunk, Mom. I wish you'd get here soon. How could this happen to me, Mom? My life just burst like a
balloon. There is blood all around me, Mom, and most of it is mine. I hear the medic say, Mom, I'll die in a short
time. I just wanted to tell you, Mom, I swear I didn't drink. It was the others, Mom. The others didn't think. He was
probably at the same party as I. The only difference is he drank and I will die. Why do people drink, Mom? It can
ruin your whole life. I'm feeling sharp pains now. Pains just like a knife. The guy who hit me is walking, Mom, and
I don't think it's fair. I'm lying here dying and all he can do is stare. Tell my brother not to cry, Mom. Tell Daddy to
be brave. And when I go to heaven, Mom, put "Daddy's Girl" on my grave. Someone should have told him, Mom,
not to drink and drive. If only they had told him, Mom, I would still be alive. My breath is getting shorter, Mom. I'm
becoming very scared. Please don't cry for me, Mom. When I needed you, you were always there. I have one last
question, Mom, before I say good-bye. I didn't drink and drive, so why am I the one to die?????
Here is a story that a friend of mine sent to me that is also very sad. Just think that if you drive drunk this could be you some day.
Pizza, A Party, and A Moonlight Ride.
Jenny was so happy about the house they had found,
For once in her life it was on the right side of town.
She unpacked her things with such great ease,
As she watched her new curtains blow in the breeze.
How wonderful it was for her to have her own room.
School would be starting she would be having friends coming over soon
There would be sleepovers and parties, she was so happy.
It's just the way she wanted her life to be.
On the first day of school, everything went great.
She made new friends and even got a date.
She thought, "I want to be popular and I am going to be
because I just got a date with the star of the football team."
To be recognized in this school you have to have clout.
And dating this guy would help her out.
There is only one problem stopping her fate,
Her parents said she was to young to date.
"Well I won't tell them the whole truth, they won't know the difference, what's there to lose?"
Jenny asked to stay with her friends that night,
Her parents sulked and said all right.
Excited, she got ready for the big event.
But as she rushed around like she had no sense,
she began to feel guilty about all the lies.
But what's a pizza, a party and a moonlight ride?
While the pizza was good, and the party was great,
But the moonlight ride had to wait.
For Jeff was now half drunk by this time,
But he kisses her and says he is fine.
Then the room filled with smoke and Jeff took a puff,
Jenny couldn't believe he was smoking that stuff.
Now Jeff was ready to ride to the point,
But only after he had smoked another joint.
They jumped in the car for the moonlight ride,
Not thinking he was to drunk to drive.
They finally made it to the point at last,
And jeff started to make a pass.
A pass is not what Jenny wanted at all,
And by a pass, i don't mean playing football.
"Perhaps my parents were right...Mayby I am too young, boy how could I be so dumb."
She used all her might to push Jeff away
"Please take me home I don't want to stay."
Jeff cranked up the car and floored the gas,
And a matter of seconds they were going to fast.
As Jeff drove off in a fit of anger
Jenny knew her life was in danger.
She begged and pleaded for him to slw down,
But he just got faster as they neared the town.
Just let me go home and I will confess, that tonight was a great lie.
I really went out for a moonlight ride.
Then all of a sudden she saw a big flash,
"Oh God, Please help us! We're going to crash!"
She doesn't remember the force of impact,
Just everything went really black.
And she heard, "Call an ambulance, these kids are in trouble."
Voices she heard...a few words at best, she knew there were two cars involved in the wreck.
Then wondered to herself if Jeff was all right,
And if the other people in the other car were alive.
She awoke in the hospital to faces so sad,
"You've been in a wreck and it looks preety bad."
These voices echoed in her head,
As they told her Jeff was dead.
They said "Jenny we've done all we can do,"
"It looks as if we'll lose you too."
"But the people in the other car!" Jenny replied.
"We're sorry Jenny they also died."
Jenny prayed "Please God, Forgive me for what I have done,"
"I just wanted a real night of fun."
"Tell those peoples family, I have made there lives dim"
"and I wish I could return there familys to them."
"Tell mom and dad I am sorry I lied"
"Oh nurse won't you please tell them that for me?"
The nurse just stood there and never agreed,
but took Jenny's hand with tears in her eyes.
A moment later Jenny died.
A man asked the nurse "Why didn't you do your best,"
"to bid that girls one last request?"
She looked at him with eyes so sad,
"Because the people in the other car were her mom and dad."
