BUTTERFLY, THE MUSIC OF SCOTT WALKER
Scott had arguably the most beautiful voice in popular music. Apart from his success as a singer he also composed quality songs, many of which presented to the listener the loneliness of unrequited love. He commenced a solo career in the late 1950s competing as Scotty Engel against the likes of Paul Anka, Frankie Avalon and Fabian in the USA and Laurie London in the UK. He found success with the Walker Brothers in exchange with the loss of his privacy. He embarked on a solo career recording five of the greatest albums ever, his work was influenced by Jacques Brel, Paolo Passolini, Jean Paul Sartre. The views of the author may not concur with your own but they hopefully will have you re-listening again to those albums so long stored away. | ![]() |
