Berrykat’s bio.

Berrykat is a nickname I got in high school. I don’t know what inspired it but it stuck and after a while I got used to it.

I started playing guitar around age thirteen. I always knew I would be a musician someday since I was very young. Because it was cool.

Early influences were:

Tony Iommi
Jimmy Page
Steve Howe
Randy Rhoads
My friend Chris Aldrich, who played a copy of a Gibson SG made by Kay.(so cool)

My start with the band:

Sometime in 88-89 I met James at a record store and we got together and jammed at his folks house. All I really recall is trying to get a good tone out of my crappy gear while James chased his girlfriend around the house. Not much came of that encounter but we stayed in touch.

Later on I met Jonny Noble through his neighbor and mutual friend, Randy. Randy told me "dude, you got to meet my neighbor, he plays guitar and he's looking for a band". So I went to his apartment and here was this 6 foot 95 pound guy with size thirteen shoes who played like the guitarist from hell. We jammed off and on for a while through the winter till one day James called and said he met Gary and asked me if I still wanted to put something together. I said "Yeah, but Me and Jonnie were a package deal." Word got back to Gary who played guitar then but said, "Ok, whatever, so I’ll play drums. It can't be that hard."

Since then enough member changes have taken place to fill a history book. Suffice it to say everyone save Gary has left the band and returned at least once. Hence his big head. :-)

Equipment:

I play cheap, er, make that inexpensive guitars. Currently two old Charvels. Zoom processers. And whatever else I can beg, borrow or st...borrow.

When I’m not playing guitar, I;

Think about playing guitar, fish, mountain bike, go camping.
Read about WWII aircraft.

And just hang with the wifey.

Final thoughts:
Thanks to everyone who appreciates our music.
Thanks to everyone who plays metal and inspires higher achievement.
Thanks to God for making me whom I am and allowing me to do something I love...to glorify Him.
