No Le$$
no less @ fiesta grande '97

When I first moved to San Francisco, I didn't even know these guys.  Having said that, let me give you the opinion of  No Less I had at that time.  No Less is the best hard-core band in California.  It's easy to tell where their roots are, but they never play anything predictable.  You can never tell what these guys are going to do next.  They play all kinds of samples over the most original bass and guitar riffs ever made. Melt that in with the craziest time changes of any band around, put Pelo's vocals on top of that mess, and you have No Less.  No Less have been jamming since Plutocracy broke up in '93.  They didn't really have a drummer to jam with, so Thomas picked up the drums and turned into the most warped drumming minds I know of.  Their first release was a split they did with E.T.O.  Since then they've put a butt load of comps and splits out.
These are some down to earth mother fuckers, and they all had a hand in starting the West Bay Coalition.   No Less is made up of  members of 976, Immortal Fate, and Plutocracy.  Yes the bands that started it all in the West Bay.  I don't know what's going to happen with No Less right now.  Shortly before the No Less, deadbodieseverywhere tour of '98, Dan Hogan, bassist for No Less, committed suicide.  His death has obviously been a huge blow to the band.  I get the feeling that No Less is through, but there's no way the boys are.  I'm sure they'll be doing something real soon. In fact, since they've been back, I know that Plutocracy has jammed a few times.  That's right.  Thomas and Stinky on 6 strings, Max on drums, and check this out, Franko from Agents of Satan on bass.  I don't know what will become of this, but my nipples are pretty hard.

No Less' latest recording "Boxed In",
on Slap a Ham, is pure insanity heavily doused in tapitio sauce.
Nine crazy-ass tunes from ex-PLUTOCRACY dankstahz! Totally original, high-speed detonations that destroy any
conventional ideas of what intense music sounds like! - Chris Dodge, about Boxed In
What Charles Mingus brought to jazz with his uncanny ability to mix coherent with the outer limits of sanity, No Less does with their brand of hard-core. Priceless gems of  samples floating a top a sea of distorted squeals from the  duel guitars of Snowman
and Stinkweed. Cries of agony from Pelon, the thick soup from Big Boy spilling out over the Tribal beatings of Kalmex. Formed in '93, from the remnants of Plutocracy, Immortal Fate and 976, No Less  carries on the dark visions seen with the original formations and brings new pain. Check it out - Curtis Dickinson
