Audrey's "Messcort"!

This is my 1988 Ford "Messcort"! It used to be an Escort when I bought it, but over the last two years I've run into a few things. So now my friends refer to it as a "Messcort". I love my car. It may look like a heap, but it purrs like a kitten (well, almost!). It runs great and never gives me any problems. I wouldn't trade it for the world. Personally, I think all the dents give it character. Not too mention, everyone on the road gets out of my way. It's been through a lot. Here is a list of the accidents my Messcort has survived:

1. I crashed into a Buick while going 65 mph on the freeway. Major damage done to the front drivers side, hood, front bumper, and front window. This accident was not my fault. The guy in the Buick just cut me off all of a sudden and he didn't even have his lights on. So now I have a big spider crack in the windshield, the hood is bolted to the hinges and held in place with a chain and padlock. We used masking tape to put a new headlight in and rigged up a small turn signal light!

2. I backed into a lady's car while trying to get out a a parking space. There were plenty of parking spaces in the lot. But this stupid lady decided to park her car directly behind my car in my blind spot. I didn't see her and crash! My car was unharmed but her's got dented. She didn't even speak English. Someone needs to explain to her that you park your car between the two white lines. Not directly behind the cars parked in between the white lines! Fortunately, I have liability insurance.

3. I backed into a guys car while trying to get out of a parking space at Lucky's. He stopped suddenly because his gears jammed and then his horn didn't work. I didn't see him and backed right into him. Fortunately his car was a heap too and there was no visable damage. We both walked away fine. He was cool. My Messcort only got a little scuff on the bumper.

4. My driver's side mirror was ripped off the holder by my drunk ex in the Cheers parking lot. I have no idea what he was so mad about!

5. The passenger side mirror was broken when I hit a tree backing out of Simone's driveway at her previous house!

6. There's a large dent in the driver's side back panel caused by hitting the Weinersnitzel menu!

7. There is a small dent in the passenger side back panel caused by trying to squeeze into a parking spot that was too small. I hit the truck parked next to me. No damage was done to the truck.

8. The passenger side bumper is looking pretty scuffed from numerous impacts with the pole in my apartment parking spot!

9. Hit both poles on each side of Gary's driveway several times!

10. Hit the pole at Kelly's apartment complex while trying to back out of the parking space! Gary and I thought it was so funny, so I drove back in and hit it two more times! There's a nice big dent in the passenger side door!

11. After hitting the pole at Kelly's, I drove straight into the pole at my parking spot and bent my license plate just for laughs!

12. As I was backing out of Gary's driveway, I totally smashed the driver's side mirror on a pole! It was hanging there by the power cord! This would have gotten me pulled over for sure. So Gary and I went to Pick and Pull and got two new mirrors for the Messcort. One red one and one white one. Gary installed the mirrors and even hooked up the wires so they are electric. Very nice work.

13. It was a sad day on March 21, 2000. I was leaving work and was making a left at the stop sign to get some gas. From out of no where a large plumbing truck came barreling out of the parking lot to the right of me. As I was turning I noticed in horror that the large truck was coming right at my beloved Messcort. I braked but the truck didn't stop in time. He crashed into my Messcort and sent it flying. Even after the impact, my Messcort was still running. What a champ that car was. But the Messcort was no match for the plumbing truck. It's number was up. The damage to the body, door, and front wheel was extensive. I had it towed to my house where the other drivers insurance company declared it totalled. I stood there and shed several tears as the tow truck took the Messcort away. Now that was a sad day. I loved that car. The accident was the other guys fault (isn't that always the case when I crash!!). His insurance company gave me a whooping $1,200.00 for my car. My brother said, "$1,200.00 for the Messcort...take the money and run!!!" The insurance company also shelled out some serious cash for my back injury. I bought a new 1996 Red Mitsubishi Eclipse. I love my new car but I do miss the Mescort. We had a lot of fun in that car!! Rest in Peace Aud's Messcort.

So, does anyone want to go for a ride!!!??
