Yeah, I know that even the thought of a little person might make some people laugh, but for those of you who can take 'em seriously, go see Simon Birch.
Simon Birch is a 12 year old little boy who is growing up in the 60s. His best friend is Joe. They are inseprable. Together they play baseball, swim and talk about, well, anything that comes up.
Because Simon's parents dislike him he depends on Rebecca, Joe's mom. She is basicly kind to everyone and will defend Simon to the bitter end if she is up to it.
The cast in this movie just blew me away. Ashely Judd was marevlous as Joe's mother. Oliver Platt was exceptional as well. The children in the movie did such a great job, I couldn't believe it. Ian Smith (who plays Simon) was excellently cast. I would see any movie he was in. I just fell in love with him. He is so tiny. He is only 3' 1". And Joe Mazzello (Joe) made me cry at the end. For someone to cry on screen and make me cry also really takes alot. I am going to see this movie again!
There is not much out there about this movie yet but as time goes by I will somehow get sound files and more pictures. Better ones. This movie is worth the money you spend.
It is loosely based on John Irving's "A Prayer for Owen Meaney". I bet you can't guess what book I am going to read.....
