Well, okay so here is our own biography of Savage Garden. So, about five years ago Daniel put an ad in a music magazine for a singer, and Darren answered it. Darren says, "We clicked on a personal level more than anything and here we are today". They were apart of a band called Red Edge, but soon Darren and Daniel were tired of performing songs that they didn't write, so they both decided to leave the band and write their own songs. So, they spent a long time writing songs and they sent it in to tons of recording companies. Soon after, they got responses and landed their first record deal with Roadshow Music. They got their international deal with Columbia Records. They hit it big first with I Want You in Australia...and around April 1997 I Want You was heard for the first time overseas. It was a smash hit...Rosie O'Donnell loved it so much and gave it tons of exposure. Also, here in Vancouver I Want You was #1 for the Z Top 95 of 1997! Now that's pretty cool! Their second single, To The Moon & Back went to #1 in Australia...but didn't do so well overseas. Don't ask us why it didn't, but it did. But now, they rereleased it and it's doing much better! Their third single released was the most successful so far. That song is of course, Truly Madly Deeply which not only reached #1 in Australia but it was #1 in the Billboard charts as well. Their fourth single Break Me Shake Me did well in Australia but we don't think it was played that much in the US. In Canada, however it was played a lot. It reached #8 on the charts at our radio station in Vancouver, Z95.3 fm. They have rereleased To The Moon & Back as we've told you before and it's doing pretty good. (Plus the new video is AWESOME!!!) Their success is overwhelming...Darren feels very strongly about his success, "It's like every musicians's dream" he says. Now we're waiting for their second album, which we think should be released around the beginning of the new year 1999. We heard they will be recording their second album in Vancouver. Pretty cool, eh? Well so now you know about them. Read our articles that we have collected as well! Also...take a look at all the PICTURES that we have!
