Sarah's Nominated for an Oscar!

Sarah McLachlan and Randy Newman both received an Oscar nomination
in the category of Original Song for When She Loved Me, the popular ballad
which appears in Disney's hit film Toy Story 2.

The original song was written by Randy Newman, and sung by Sarah in the
film, and is only available on the soundtrack to the movie.

The 72nd Annual Academy Awards will air Sunday, March 26th from the
Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles. Sarah will be in attendance, and will per-
form the song at the Oscar ceremonies.

Sarah took home a Grammy!

Sarah McLachlan ended up taking home her third Grammy Award, in the
category of Best Female Pop Vocal Performance, for her live version of
I Will Remember You from her live album Mirrorball, at the 42nd Annual
Grammy Awards in Los Angeles.

Sarah managed to beat out such competition as Christina Aguilera,
Madonna, Britney Spears and Alanis Morissette.

Sarah on Donnie and Marie

Sarah is suppose to be on the Donnie and Marie show which airs March 9th. It's on

Fox daytime TV. Make sure you check your local listings for times and tune in.

Sarah appeared on 1999 Billboard Music Awards. She took home "Best Contemporary Adult Single" for "Angel". It originally appeared on her 1997 "Surfacing" album. It also appeared on the "City of Angels" soundtrack and her live album "Mirrorball".

December 10, 199, British Columbia Supreme Court dismissed claims made by Plaintiff Daryl Neudorf that he co-wrote songs in Sarah's first album "Touch". Court says Neudorf failed to prove that he contributed any original material. Sarah says "I feel vidicated and I am happy. The decision will protect the rights of songwriters".

Sarah Ann Mclachlan was born January 28, 1968 in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. Sarah has two brothers, Iam and Stewart. They openly admit to being adopted. Sarah married her drummer, Ashwin Sood, February 7, 1997. Sarah was part of a band called 'October Game' as a teen. She studied classical guitar, piano and voice as a child. By the age 17, she was discovered by Nettwerk Records.

Her first album "Touch" was released in 1990. "Solace" was released in 1992 and opened the international door for Sarah. After a 16 month tour, Sarah started writing music for her 3rd album, "Fumbling Towards Ecstasy." Did you know the song "Hold On" was inspired by a documentary "A Promis Kept?" Sarah wrote the song in one day. 1997 brought the release of her album "Surfacing." It contains hits like "Building A Mystery" and "Sweet Surrender." Her song "I Love You" appears in the movie "Message In A Bottle."

Sarah has a unique talent and it shows through her music. Not only is she a singer/ songwriter, but she also has a talent in art work also. She has some beautiful, revealing work. Sarah is the founder of "Lilith Fair."

Sarah McLachlan started Lilith Fair in 1997 with 1999 being her last year. Lilith Fair is a celebration of women in music. It has been a great success for herself and for others. Lilith Fair helped Sarah Mclachlan get the recognition she deserved. It also gave other artist a chance to come out and show there work to the public, who otherwise would have never heard of them. It helped artist like "Jewel" and "Meredith Brooks" get started in the music business. It helped known artist get there music out to people who otherwise would have never heard it. It has been a success for all benefit concert. I truley believe that Sarah McLachlan is the best musical artist alive. I believe she will leave her mark on this earth in many ways.
