Sarah Link Exchange

This page is dedicated to my experience of Lilith fair. It was Wednesday,August 18, 1999 in Indianapolis, Indiana at Deer Creek Music Center. I didn't go the first year, but I did the second year and this year. This page is about 1999. It all started out pretty early. Three friends of mine from work went with me. It was real great. The first part we spent mostly walking around looking at the shops. I had just passed the "Chick Click" booth. They had cameras and I was thinking of buying one but didn't. I wanted to save my money for a shirt and other stuff. A girl friend of mine and I started walking towards the 2nd stage and stopped by the booth set up for the mosiac.

y friend and I had put several pieces in this too. We noticed a band playing and thought we heard Sarah singing too, so off we went. It was "Wild Starwberries" and sure enough, Sarah was playing and singing. We ran over there to see. We were like teenagers again just inches away from the stage. This is when I was kicking myself in the butt for not buying that camera. I could have gotten one hell of a picture of Sarah right there. I was so close to her and it was such a rush for both my friend and I. Here are some photos of what I saw, and imagine I was this close...

t was so amazing for me for those few minutes. I doubt I'll ever get that close up again. I was really happy.

After that we headed back to our other friends to tell them the good news. We had lawn seats. I didn't like sitting so far away, but we waited to long to buy the tickets. The main concert hadn't started yet, so we relaxed alot or walked around checking out things. We heard some of the bands play as we walked from the smaller stages, but "Wild Strawberries" was the only ones we stopped and watched. We had went by many of the booths. The main one was Nettwerk. We stood there quite some time listening to Sarah's music. I didn't take much money, so I wasn't able to spend much.

Once the main stage started, I was planted where I was. First playing was "Diane Cox." I really wasn't in to that kind of music, but I thought it was real cool for them to be a part of Lilith Fair. It helped bring in those people that wouldn't otherwise had come.

Next was "Liz Phair." She was pretty good I thought and performed well. I just wasn't familiar with her music.

f I had the money to spare, I would buy her music. Ohterwise, I'd have to settle with hearing her elsewhere.

The next to perform was "Dixie Chicks." I don't like country, but I have to say they rocked the house. Everybody loved there music. I was really impressed with their performance.

Of course by now I'm really getting antsy cause I was there to see Sarah, but I did enjoy their show.

The next to perform was "Sheryl Crow." I really like Sheryl Crow's music. She performed really well. but by now I really just want to Sarah.

thought she done real well, but I don't think her hair cut does any justice. I'v always thought she was a really pretty woman, but the cut makes her look so much older.By this time too, It was getting chilly for an August night. It looked as if would poor rain on us.

Finally Sarah performs.....I am off my feet and dancing. She opens up playing my favorite song "Possession."

She sung alot of my favorite song. I think she is an excellent writer and performer. I loved the outfit she was wearing. I think she seemed a bit moody, but still great. The weather still looking pretty bad, but no rain.

After her wonderful performance, she closed with two joined song. One was "Angel." I thought it was over way too soon. I'd really like to see Sarah sing for about 2 hours herself. I know I really enjoyed both Lilith Fair shows I'v went too. I really miss it and wish she would bring it back a few more years atleast. The ecperience was like nothing else, and it's for such a wonderful cause in many ways.

Sarah McLachlan is a very beautifully talented artist and I can't wait till she goes on tour herself. I hope she don't stay out of the light for too long. But I have to say, if for some reason she brings back Lilith fair, even 10 years form now, I will be there with bells on. I loved it and I will never forget that musical experience. What would have made it even better is meeting Sarah herself. I won't give up hope...
