NOTICE May 31, 2003
This page may or may not be moving. I don't use this Geocities account very much and it gets a lot of spam. Anyway...........Chris is in a band called Decca Tree. I haven't heard from Rodney or Craig in several years. That's all the news I have.

Well.... Sonichrome broke up in July 1999. I have had to make a few changes on this webpage, obviously. I'm still known as "Jenni the Palm Tree Girl" and this is still my page for Sonichrome, the band that opened for Dishwalla in November of 1998. After seeing them in a live show, I absolutely fell in love with them. That part hasn't and will never change.

I'm leaving this webpage up as a kind of FYI. If you would like information on what the guys are up to these days, email Noreen at HuniPlease@aol.com and she'll dish out the news when applicable.

You should still check out these links and Sonichrome's record Breathe The Daylight (1998 Capitol Records). It completely rocks.

Who was Sonichrome?

The band was once known as Twist Top and as Monochrome. They toured with bands such as Marcy Playground, Dishwalla and Everclear.

Sonichrome consisted of:

Why I liked them so much

I don't remember how I first heard of Sonichrome, but when Dishwalla Headquarters announced who the opening band would be for the next leg of the tour in 1998, I was certain that I had heard the name before. Naturally, my first instinct was to check out some sound clips to determine if they were any good. I found the official page and listened to the clips there. They were pretty cool.

Then the reviews started pouring in. Friends who were seeing the Dishwalla shows kept commenting that Sonichrome was a really great show. "Right on," I thought to myself. "We're in for a treat." That was an understatement.

Three words: energetic, fun "power pop." (okay, that's four words). But that's exactly the kind of music that I dig. Sonichrome started playing their set of 10 songs. We couldn't get our hands on a set list, so I have no clue which songs they played. There are a few that I remember for sure, but I didn't know any other songs or titles at that point. Oh well. It doesn't really matter because everything sounded great.

There are three things that I took with me that night (besides the music and free stickers, of course). One, these guys are good with audience interaction. There was some loud obnoxious guy in the crowd, and so Chris extended an invitation to this person to come join them on stage. I don't know what was really going on in anyone's heads at that point, but I had to smile at the way they did not let the loudmouth spoil anybody's fun.

Somewhere towards the middle of the set, the band played Over Confident. I'm not sure, but I think it's my favorite song off the record. At least, it's today's favorite... :-) Anyway, I think it's my favorite song to see performed live. They were filled with so much energy. I had as much fun *watching* them as I did listening to the music! That song was so cool, I wished I had a guitar so I could learn to play it.

baby palm tree And finally, I think the best memory of that night was spending a few good, quality minutes with the band. I knew I was going to buy the CD eventually, so I figured I'd get it right then and there, so the guys could sign it. Well... I couldn't even get the thing out of its plastic wrapping! Haha. :-) Craig was right there, and he was like "Here, let me open that for you." (Thanks Craig!!) So we chatted for a minute or two, and then I went over to Rodney. I'm sure I said something to the effect of "I really enjoyed your show, you guys were great, blah blah..." Something like that. I just hope I didn't sound like a moron! Then I went over to Chris, and he pointed out the shirt that I was wearing (from Santa Barbara!) The rest of our conversation sort of turned into an inside joke...... :-)

After most everyone else had left, my friends and I asked to get pictures with them. They happily obliged. Of course, it took a few minutes to round everyone up. :-) As I left the venue that cold November night, I had a grand design in mind for this site.

Home Away From Home was born on November 7, 1998. Yep, that was the night I saw them open for Dishwalla. I knew right away that I was going to do a website for them. Updated July 29, 1999/May 9th, 2000. You are person to visit the page since the counter was added on January 3, 1999.

The guys gave me express permission to use their logo. Special thanks to Chris, Craig, Rodney, John, Alyssa, Rob, and everyone who supported this project.
