A central midfield playmaker who
inspired Czechoslovakia to the Euro '96 final, and was thought to be the
missing piece of the jigsaw when signing for Liverpool in the 1996 close
season, Patrik has yet to set Anfield on fire, appearing usually on the
wings, or in a floating role behind the front runners.
Selected 28 times in 1997-98, 19 of his appearances being from the bench,
the Czech needs a far better run of starts to show the knowledgeable Anfield
crowd what he is really all about. Scored just three times during the campaign,
all of them coming in the 4-2 Anfield defeat of Chelsea. |
