   The Story of Last Chapter

Last Chapter has been considered by many to be the "best kept secret" in Texas bands. As unknown as they are it is believed that they will undoubtedly attain cult status with their first full length release on Brainticket Records, The Living Waters.

Last Chapter was originally formed in 1989 under the title Brick Widow with only the first three members being drummer Jason Spradlin, bassist Terri Pritchard, and guitarist Darrin Davis. It was at this time that the trio began to work on building their own style of Doom Metal in their home town of Arlington, Texas. The following year they included guitarist Cody Griffith in the band and began using their influences in every way possible to create a distinctive form of Progressive Doom Metal with emphasis on heaviness, doomy atmospheres, and slow tempo. All throughout this time however the band continued searching for but was never able to find a suitable vocalist appropriate for the passionate and powerful nature of the songs that they had written. However they continued to work and create music that would redefine Doom Metal.

After two years had passed and the band was still unable to find an appropriate vocalist they released a four song demo with the assistance of their close friend, the front man for cult doom band Solitude Aeturnus, Robert Lowe. However the tape was only given a limited distribution to a particular few people and created a buzz about the band and their music. A fair amount of time passed after that and the band was still unsuccessul finding their own lead vocalist so they came to the conclusion that it wasn't worth working for anymore and gave up. However drummer Jason Spradlin, and bassist Terri Pritchard didn't stay inactive the whole time. They both gave their assistance to John Perez, the founder of Brainticket Records and guitarist of Solitude Aeturnus, to work on and record his own psychedelic music album titled The Liquid Sound Company-Exploring the Psychedelic. The album was recorded and released in October of '96.

John Perez, the founder of Brainticket Records, was entirely convinced of the outstanding nature of the songwriting that the band had done that in 1995 he begged them to begin working once again and record a full length release for Brainticket Records. It didn't take much to convince the band that it was time to put their songwriting to good use and get into the studio to record. At the start of 1997 Last Chapter began recording their first full length album with the assistance of close friend Robert Lowe once again on vocals and Bill Pohl on synth guitar. In June of '97 Brainticket released the album called, "The Living Waters."

The album received a lot of reviews from metal mags all across the world and created a lot of interest in the band. A year after it's release in '98 the band signed a distribution deal with Pavement Music making their album, "The Living Waters," available for purchase at Best Buy as well as most other music stores. Your local Best Buy should carry it, if not then you can request it or purchase it through Brainticket Records. Last Chapter still searches for a suitable vocalist for their manner of playing.
