Interviews/ TV appearences

An article from September 1991, from the Buffalo News. It's a bit out of date fact-wise, but it's interesting to see what has changed, and what has stayed the same.

In the 29th December 1998 edition of the british broadsheet newspaper, The Daily Telegraph printed an article about Grace, with a few snippets of an interview done in her house in Malibu. It may not be 100% complimatory, but it does bring to light a few new bits of trivia. I have posted it here for you to read

In Febuary's issue of the british magazine Record Collector, printed an interview with Gracie but the writer of that article gave me some EXCLUSIVES - previews and out takes, to post here, with the intention of buying the magazine when it comes out. So here you are.

An article appeared in the New York Daily News which is available to read here It talkes about her book, and has some excerpts from an interview in there, where she says she's not really interested in sex, drugs and rock and roll anymore.

There was a short article about Grace in the San Francisco Chronicle on 7th September 1998. It has a few exerpts from a recent interview, by the sounds of it.

In 1991 Grace did an interview with LIFE magazine, where she talked about getting into music, drugs and Janis and Jim, The White House, and after the 60's. There is also a small upate from 1994 attached at the bottom involving alcohol problems.

Grace sang on Linda Perry's In Flight album, and part of her vocals can be heard under the soundclips page. In an interview, Linda tells the story of how Grace came to be singing on her debut solo album. I transcribed the parts relevent. The whole interview can be heard via Real Audio at LA live's Coffee Break web site

Around 1988 Grace and Paul Kantner were in a video titled "The Doors In Europe" where they talked about when they went on tour with The Doors in 1968. I've watched the video and almost wore out the pause button to bring it to you. Interested? then click here

The cd booklet with Great Society's Collectors Item has an article that appeared in Stereo Review in 1970. It describes the house where she lived at the time, and Grace talks about being a hippie, Lewis Carroll, drugs, money problems, her past, her present and her future .It might take you a long time to read, so you might want to save it and read it off-line. Anyway, here it is

"Trouble Girls- The Rolling Stone Book of Women In Rock"- this book has mini biographies of many female rock stars. In this book, Grace's entry is in a section called SPARROWS AND POWERHOUSES: POP, FOLK AND ROCK IN THE FIFTEES AND SIXTEES; Red Blue Jeans: Wanda Jackson and Grace Slick. I've copied most of it, leaving out the bit about Wanda. This book also opens with a nice pic of Grace with Janis Joplin backstage at Woodstock.

Grace's fight for the pigeons! I noticed this short article about grace and the pigeons of New York in December 97's issue of UK's UNCUT magazine. it is considerably shorter than the other articles, but copied it anyway. You can now also read the letter she sent to the mayor in protest of this.

In 1991 Grace performed at the festival For The Animals and Hal Broome wrote a review of it. It is found at his homepage of music reviews and interviews. You might also want to check out the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) homepage
