obvious diary collaboration - June 98

1) If you won the 195 million Powerball, would you
a) take the 195 million over 20 years? or
b) take the 104 million cash payment now?

I'd surely choose to take the 195 million over 20 years.

2) Why?

Well, first of all, we're not talking about small change here. We're talking about 90 million dollars, almost half of the prize. Second, even though I wouldn't be able to insanely go around spending money, I'd still be able to spend quite an amount of money each month. Also, it would be good to know that I'll have an reliable source of income for the next 20 years, no matter what happens. It could be handy sometime down the road.

3) How would you spend the money from the option you chose?

I'd end world hunger, donate it to a hundred charity institutions, and through it make the world a better place.

Oh yeah.

I'd actually do very selfish things with the money.

First of all, I'd go to the biggest CD store I can find and just buy everything I wanted. Just to feel the rush of doing it.

I'd probably buy a digital camera, too. A good one.

Saving the money for a few months, I'd buy my own domain, my own server, and keep it just for ME ME ME (rich people can do that).

After saving for a little longer, I'd go travelling the world. I'd go visit all my online friends, so I could finally know all of them, and visit Jesse, too. Then I would spend a year in France, a year in London, and a year in New York or Seattle.

Then I'd go back to Brazil, and finish college, set up my own advertising agency, and get really famous, therefore rich, then the money from the Powerball would be just six more digits on my account, so I'd only get to remember it existed when I get the notification 20 years later that I won't receive it anymore.
