Nothing But the Blues

The most profound influence that Eric Clapton has had on me is in the blues music genre. Throughout his career, Eric has played with some of the most talented visionaries in the blues. A few of them are listed below as well as other characteristics of blues music.

King of the Blues: BB King

Sweet Home Chicago: Buddy Guy's Legends

Luther Allison

Luther Allison was a major influence on blues and I was fortunate enough to see him twice in Ottawa before he passed away in the summer of 1997 with cancer. He was a fantastic performer who loved his audience and made them feel like they were on stage with him. Allison spent much of his career in Paris and his blues style was as sincere and gritty as his performances.

His son Bernard, a talented bluesman, dedicated his North American tour to his Father. Bernard performed a fantastic set in Ottawa at the Bluesfest on July 5, 1998.
